In truth, when Freya left the hospital and threw Vivian's phone into the lake, Derek already knew she was the mastermind. The past few days had been for collecting evidence.

Even after hearing this, I was too shocked to speak.

"Zoe, I brought you here because I need you to do something for me," Derek said, his gaze fixed on his sleeping Luna in the hospital room.

"Your sister has been in a coma since the surgery. She has always believed she lost her sister. You are the source of her pain. I want you to..."

"I understand what you mean."

I answered at once, stepped into the room, sat down on the edge of Vivian's bed, and took her hand gently in mine. "Sister."

Though Vivian hadn't fully awakened, tears welled up in the corners of her eyes.

Over the next few days, I stayed with her and told her about my life over the years, of course, I purposely withheld the part about being abused.

He turned and smiled. "Did Derek's crying surprise you? Seeing him like that, it's hard to believe he's the Alpha."

I shook my head. "It's fine. He just loves his Luna too much."

"Alpha truly loves his Luna. They are fated mates, and that kind of love is enviable."

I nodded in agreement.

After a moment's hesitation, I couldn't help but ask, "Beta Cody, can you tell me... what happened to my parents... the Hall family?"

"They've been sent to prison."
