After hanging up, I drove onto the mountain road heading down.
The night was heavy, the moon hidden by thick clouds, and the mountains were oppressively silent.
But before long, I noticed something unusual–behind me, a car had been following, keeping its distance, neither fast nor slow, like the controlled breathing of a lurking beast
I deliberately changed routes several times, trying to shake it off, but the other party seemed to sense my intentions and stuck to me precisely.
That wasn’t something an ordinary person could do.
Unease suddenly welled up in my heart.
Just as I was driving into a forest path, the car suddenly shook violently-“Bang!” There was an explosive sound, the
tire was punctured, the car skidded hard and crashed into a roadside snow pile before stopping.
I almost immediately unbuckled my seatbelt and fumbled for my phone to call the police.
Before I could dial the number, a heavy knocking sound exploded in my ear.
I turned around sharply to see a strange man standing outside the car window, tall and wearing a black windbreaker with the scent of wind and snow.
Before I could react, he spoke coldly: “Don’t be afraid. I’m someone Adrian sent to protect you. Call me Dane.”
I was stunned. “…You’re a werewolf from Black Mountain Pack?”
“Yes.”
He took out a black badge with the faint tribal markings of Black Mountain Pack visible, along with an inscription carved into the metal–this was the symbol of Adrian’s direct guards.
“Someone’s targeting you.”
Dane then took out a new phone and handed it to me. “If you sometimes can’t reach Alpha Adrian thr mindlink, use this phone to leave him messages. Your current phone might be monitored.”
I took the phone. “Thank you.”

I dialed the number, and it was answered almost immediately on the first ring: “Aurora, how are you now?”
