After a while, Liz came back. I had woven several butterflies and Liz loved them, treasuring them in her pocket.
That night, she insisted on sleeping with me.
Evan looked at me, seeking my opinion.
I nodded.
Liz was overjoyed and immediately threw herself into my arms.
Although we were sleeping together, it was just sharing the same tent. Everyone slept in their own sleeping bags, and it certainly wasn’t realistic for Liz to expect me to hold her all night.
Her body was indeed somewhat weak, probably because the mountain wind was too strong last night and she caught a chill. When she woke up the next day, she had a heavy cold with a stuffy nose.
I didn’t sleep well last night either, feeling somewhat dazed.
Evan immediately decided to take her to the hospital. I had originally planned to drive back myself, but Liz acted coquettishly and pulled at me, begging me to accompany her
Seeing her wilted appearance, I eventually nodded and agreed.
So the three of us got into Evan’s car together.
We hadn’t been driving long when I leaned back in my seat, drowsy, and Liz also curled up beside me with her eyes closed. The mountain road was quiet and the car warm. Before I knew it, I had fallen asleep too.
Evan drove while glancing at me sitting in the passenger seat.
My long hair hung slightly down, covering half my face. I looked peaceful in sleep, my skin appearing even more fair in the winter light.
His hand paused on the steering wheel for a moment, instinctively wanting to reach over and brush away the strands of hair covering my eyes.
But just as his fingertips were about to touch my temple, my eyelashes fluttered lightly, as if I was about to wake up.
