Chapter 73

We arrive at Satisfy and head through the back doors. I hadn’t had a chance to see the rebuild from the attack before today and I’m buzzing with excitement just to be out of the house. It seems its been built almost identical to what it was previously.

“I’ve got to head up to the office and get some work done, Honey. You’re welcome to walk around but stay close to the guys, okay?”

“Okay baby. I’m just going to wait down here for Candy. She said she was coming in early to see me.” I give him a kiss and we part ways. I see Kevin behind one of the bars and god I’ve missed his friendly face.

“Hey Kevin!”

“Oh my god, they let you out!” He drops what he’s doing and comes to hug me. I hear a cough and look behind me to see Hays and Jeremy extremely unimpressed.

“Oh please guys, I’d sooner come on to the both of you before my little Violence here. Settle down.” Making both guys eyes shoot wide and they take a step back. I laugh and squeeze Kevins hand.

“I’ve missed you, and this place!”

“So you’ll be coming back to work soon, then? You know the VIP customers miss you a lot.”

“You know I couldn’t do that, Kev. My guys would have bullets flying left right and center.”

“I know…I know. How about a drink for old times sake?”

“Uh yeah, can’t do that either. Gotta stay alert.”

“Jesus, they really do have you locked down tight.”

I wiggle my engagement ring at him and he swoons over it.

“VIOLENCE!!!!”

There’s my little buddle of energy.

“Candy! I’m so glad you came in early!”

She hugs me tightly and slaps the bar. “Drinks Kevin!”

“No…no drinks. My guys wont like that.”

“Oh please darling, you’re a big girl. You can have a drink if you want one!” Candy and Kevin grin wickedly at each other while Kevin pours drinks. He pushes one in front of the both of us and raises his own.

“To Violence’s engagement!”

Fuck…What do I do now. Just as Candy raises hers, I feel a swift presence by my side and Hays grabs my glass and lifts it to cheers with theirs and downs the whole thing, slamming it down on the table and making a loud ‘ahhh‘ as he smiles and winks at me before returning to his post behind me somewhere. Thank fuck. Candy rolls her eyes.

“You’ve got them all wrapped around your little finger!” She wiggles her pinky at me, making me laugh. We chat for a while, catching up about this and that. Kevin goes off to work and Candy tries another to get me another drink that Hays scoops up again and she just rolls her eyes and gives up on that venture.

Oh shoot, I’ve got to get going Violence! I’ve got a hair appointment to get to before my shift tonight. It was lovely seeing you!”

“Thanks for coming in, Candy. I really needed this.” I hug her before she goes and make my way to the bathroom. Before I do I stop by Hays.

“Hey…thanks for that.”

“For what?” He winks at me.

“Boss’s orders, sorry, can’t let you out of our sight.”

“Well I’m sure the boss wouldn’t be too happy with you watching me take a piss so…” I make shooing hands and usher him back out. No way am I letting that happen.
