Chapter 111

Luca

What is supposed to be one of the happiest days of my life has turned into my worst nightmare. I want to celebrate my precious little boy but at the same time I’m trying hard not to mourn his mother who looks like she’s on the brink of death. The love of my life, my best friend in this world. Did she even get to see his little face? How would I raise him without her? My heart wants to break, but my son needs me now

Luciano.

This rotten mother fucker! The sight of my girl on the bed like that, the two babies, the blood….this mother fucker! I was certain I was seeing a ghost when he was choking me out and Daniel’s face loomed over his shoulder, but no, here he is, in the flesh, fighting by my side as he once did for my father. The gun Alexander was holding fired once before I managed to disarm him. Hopefully it’s a clean shot through his shoulder, either way it’s not slowing him down from landing blow after blow into Alexander’s ugly mug. We’ve got him pinned on the floor and I’m about to put a bullet in his brain when the police chief interrupts. “The other girl has been taken in the ambulance. You’ve got one of two ways to do this cleanly. Either put a bullet in him with one of our guns and we can write it off as part of the job, or you can take him, but make sure he disappears properly when you’re done.”

“I pick option two.” I smile at Alexander who’s spitting up blood from his mangled face.

“That’s fair enough, we’ll transport him back to your place then. Take this one to the hospital.” He points to Daniel.

My girl?

“Just arrived at the hospital and taken into surgery, two babies have been given a clean bill of health. I’m unsure of the third, sorry.”

We arrived at the hospital in record time. Jeremy, Hays and Michael followed the ambulance so they’re waiting out the front for us. “How is she?” I ask Jeremy.

“No word yet, Luca and Tony have a room upstairs with the boys,”

“The boys?I look at him while we make it into the elevator.

“Yeah man…I’m sorry, we don’t know about your daughter yet. I’m so sorry…”

I don’t reply as I walk into the room he’s gone into and stop dead in my tracks. Luca and Tony are sat on chairs next to an empty bed, their shirts off and two little babies in their arms drinking bottles.

“Hey brother…” Luca says quietly.

Alexander?Tony asks.

Now’s not the time.I kneel in front of both my brothers and carefully stroke their babies‘ foreheads.

“They’re beautiful, congratulation’s guys.

“Here.Tony stands and offers me his seat. “Hold him for me? I’d like to go check on Ariana and the princess. See if I can find out anything“. The moment he places the little boy in my arms the flood gates open, and I can’t stop them. I’m so fucking scared for my girls right now, scared and helpless. “They’ll be okay brother; they have to be.” He places a hand around my shoulder and presses his forehead to mine. “Be warned, his ass stinks, badly.” He laughs as he leaves the room.

Tony

I didn’t want to leave my son. He was so comforting, but I could recognise that Luciano needed that comfort right now too. We’re all scared for Ariana, but he’s scared for two of his girls in there, Like I expected, none of the doctors can give me any more information right now so I’m slowly walking down the hall to prevent having to go back and tell the guys. I stop outside an open door when I see who’s inside. My father. He’s sitting on the bed as the doctor finishes some stitches on his shoulder and he’s smiling wildly at me. His face has aged, probably a lot to do with whatever hell he’s been living in with Alexander, but his eyes still carry that warmth I remember as a boy.

“Tony?!” My mother’s voice comes from behind me. ‘Oh my boy! How is she? The babies? What’s happening? Give me something!”

Mother!I hug her. You have two healthy grandsons so far. Ariana and the baby girl are still in surgery, and we don’t know much else at this time, but I can give you something.” I smirk as I turn her shoulders to the open door and watch as her eyes blink slowly.
