Roschelle looked down and touched her belly, smiling softly, and said, “It’s okay, Mrs. Argent, you’re just too worried about me. I’m really fine.”

Kieran put his arm around Roschelle’s shoulders and gently pulled her into his arms. He moved softly, like Roschelle was the only one he could see, treating her like a precious treasure.

Roschelle leaned weakly against Kieran, lifted her eyelids, and looked at Alarieka.

Roschelle said, “Kier made you kneel here, it’s for your own good.”

“Ms. Huston, I used to let things slide because you were young, but this time, you really went too far. You really did need a good lesson.”

“But you were still a high school student after all, so I didn’t call the police about this. It’s for your own good.”

The hospital was more than ten kilometers away from the rental place, and Alarieka walked back. It took her a few hours.

After I got home, it was already three in the morning. All the lights in the room were off.

Alarieka’s legs were almost useless, and she just collapsed on the couch.

Hearing the noise, Tamika rushed out of the room, frowning. “Where did you go? Why are you back so late? I called you several times and couldn’t get through. Did something happen?”

Tamika asked carefully, “Is it that you still haven’t gotten the money?”

She only saw how pale Alarieka’s face was, with no color at all, when she got closer.

Tamika was startled and thought to herself, The Argent’s villa really was a dangerous place. Just one trip and I ended up like this.

Alarieka took a few deep breaths before saying, “I left my phone at the Argent’s villa, Mom, I’m tired, I want to sleep for a while.”

She didn’t want to tell Tamika what happened in the Argent’s villa.

Telling her would only make her worry more and wouldn’t really solve anything.

Tamika said anxiously, “Okay, okay, you sleep. It’s fine if you don’t get the money, just get some rest.”

Alarieka paused and said softly, “The money’s already been collected.”

Tamika got closer and saw that Alarieka was already asleep, breathing evenly.

Tamika looked at her with pity in her eyes, then went back to the room right away, took out a blanket, and carefully put it over Alarieka.

The next morning, before Alarieka even opened her eyes, she already felt that something was off.

My head felt fuzzy and the world was spinning. I felt really awful. I couldn’t keep my eyes open, and my whole body was burning up.

She propped up her upper body with weak arms, looked around, and found she was sleeping on the living room couch with a thick quilt over her.
