Chapter 6
At first, the servant didn’t notice where he was going, but when she heard. the door open, she got a shock.
She looked up and saw him opening Alarieka’s room.
It was like she had seen some big secret, and she quickly lowered her head and went into the kitchen with the bowl.
Hearing some rustling by her ear, Alarieka groggily opened her eyes.
In the dim light, she saw a tall, dark figure sitting at the desk.
For a second, her heart almost jumped out of her chest.
Once she got a good look at the person’s face, she sat up in bed.
“Kieran?”
Kieran put the book he was holding on the desk and turned to look at her. His sharp, cold face was hidden in the dim light, and his narrow eyes were intense.
Alarieka clutched the blanket, her eyes wary. “Kieran, what are you doing here?”
Kieran suddenly stood up and got right up close to her, looking down at her with a tone that was hard to read.
“What did you call me?”
“What?”
Alaricka didn’t get it at first. Kieran grabbed her chin, pinched her soft
skin with his fingertips, and tilted her face up.
“Alarieka.” His voice was cold, and his eyes looked kind of gloomy. “What’s the attitude about?”
Alarieka suddenly got what he was talking about. She had called him “Kieran” instead of the usual “Kier.”
She tried to keep her voice steady.
“Nothing. I’m tired and wanna sleep.”
Kieran let out a soft snort and tightened his grip on her chin. “Do you really think I’ll buy that?”
Alaricka felt that she had to make things clear with Kieran and put some space between them to avoid any more trouble.
“My mom said the wrong thing this afternoon. I apologize for her. It wasn’t what I thought.”
