“It’s no good! The more I take, the more it hurts!”
He was holding his stomach, sweating from the pain.
He hadn’t taken his herbal medicine for a few days, and his stomach was bothering him. Then he got to the office to- day and saw the divorce papers Jennifer sent. His stomach started aching even worse.
Jamie was worried about Brayan but didn’t know what to do.
The herbal medicine Brayan took was a special recipe from an old doctor. Only Jennifer knew the exact proportions, cooking time, and everything. She was the one who always made it for him.
“How about I give Ms. Griffin a call?” Jamie asked, kind of testing the water.
Brayan gave him a sharp look and asked back, “What did you just call her?”
“Ms. Griffin,” Jamie replied, totally confused.
He wasn’t the only one. Everyone around Brayan called Jennifer “Ms. Griffin.”
It suddenly hit Brayan that even after three years of marriage, Jennifer was still “Ms. Griffin” to everyone, not “Mrs. LeBlanc.”
He picked up his phone, thinking Jennifer would react after seeing the shredded divorce papers. But she didn’t reply. Instead, he got a call from Catalina.
As evening came, Jennifer walked into the fancy Violet Hall in Nexford all by herself.
She changed her clothes.
This blue suit she was wearing was one of the best outfits she had from before she got married.
The doorman at the entrance smiled at her, and she smiled back. Just as she was about to open her purse, she heard a voice she didn’t want to hear.
“Ms. Griffin, what a coincidence! Why are you here?”
Jennifer turned around and saw Catalina walking up to her with two friends.
Catalina was all dolled up, wearing a pink dress and the same flashy pink diamond necklace,
“Catalina, who’s she? Your friend?” Elise Pierce checked out Jennifer. “She’s not here for the Velvet Rose party, is
she?”
“No way.” Ally Gibson scrunched up her face in disgust. “Velvet Rose is a top–tier, luxury international brand. They

only invite big names. Look at what she’s wearing. She’s probably here to deliver food or something.”
Seeing how the two were playing along, Jennifer could tell that they knew exactly who she was.
“Elise, Ally, don’t be mean to Ms. Griffin.” Catalina started explaining in a serious way, “I heard from Brayan that Ms. Griffin got married before finishing college and has been a housewife for years. She mostly wears aprons, only goes to the market, and doesn’t have the chance to go anywhere else. So she probably hasn’t seen much of the world and isn’t very into fashion. Of course, she’s different from us designers working at VelvetRose.”
“You work at VelvetRose?”
