Chapter 95 

Leal’s expression became visibly dejected. Even though she was still smiling, Joycelyn could spot the awkwardness and embarrassment on her face. 

However, her mental resilience was strong, and she immediately pretended that nothing had happened and walked in the direction pointed by Ellison. 

This villa was huge. There was a fully–equipped suite on the first floor, along with a maid’s room and a storage room. 

Joycelyn took a glance at Ellison as she went upstairs. 

His deep and calm gaze met hers, and for some reason, that deep and determined gaze made Joycelyn trust him. 

“Let’s not prepare dinner at home,” Ellison said. “I’ll get the restaurant to prepare it and have it delivered. He had made up his mind but still informed Joycelyn 

“Alright, we’ll cook at home next time when we’re not busy,” Joycelyn said. 

“Okay.” Ellison then called the hotel restaurant and asked them to prepare the dishes according to the menu. 

It happened that Joycelyn was no longer in the mood to cook, so she decided to have a meal that was already prepared. The main reason was that she didn’t want Leah to enjoy the meal she prepared 

Joycelyn went upstairs and picked out a few shirts in several colors with the tags still on. She would let Leah choose for herself. 

“Dr. Mason, are you alright?” Joycelyn said as she knocked on the door. 

Inside, Leah stood in front of the mirror with a gloomy expression. Her expression was clearly grim, yet she still replied with a fake smile, “I’m fine.” 

“I’ve brought you the clothes. Take a look and see which one you want to change into.” 

“Anything is fine,” Leah replied. 

“Open the door then, and I’ll pass them to you.” Joycelyn held all the clothes in her hand and passed them through the crack in the door. 

Leah was still wearing her own dirty clothes, but when she opened the door, she didn’t look disheveled at all. Instead, she had some prejudice against Joycelyn and was somewhat displeased. 

“Thank you, Mrs. Grant,” she said. 

“You’re a guest, so that’s what I should do,” Joycelyn said She then reminded her gently. “But we’ve never used this bathroom. Be careful with the water temperature.” 

This kind intention, in Leah’s ears, was full of disgust. 

She forced a simile and grabbed the clothes in Joycelyn’s hands 

The force was strong. When Leah reached out, Joycelyn had already let go. She allowed Leal to secretly exert force, but it didn’t hurt her.

Leah then closed the bathroom door with a cold expression. 

Joycelyn did not mind at all and immediately went to care for Rocky. 

She picked up the teary–eyed puppy from behind the sofa and examined it patiently.

Sure enough, she saw a damp patch of fur on Rocky’s head. When she parted it, the skin was redder than the surrounding area. Blisters had formed. 

‘It wasn’t suddenly triggered, she thought. Rather, it was scalded! 

“Joycelyn, this dog seems quite naughty,” Isolde said. “You have to be careful. It needs to be properly trained.” She reminded Joycelyn out of concern, worried that the puppy would hurt her 

Joycelyn’s heart ached, and she said. “Rocky is very well–behaved It was likely accidentally scalded earlier. Blisters have formed, which is why it reacted under stress.” 

Although she didn’t know what exactly happened earlier, she could guess that Leah was likely trying to deliberately hurt herself to achieve a specific goal. 

I saw her walk upstairs with an expectant expression and secretly delighted look,’ she thought. ‘I wasn’t mistaken. 

At the thought of this, Joycelyn’s face darkened a little. 

Isolde looked at the puppy in Joycelyn’s arms and said, “I was holding it earlier, and it was fine. Before Dr. Mason handed me the cup of coffee, it jumped.” 

Luna chimed in from the side, “That’s right. Fortunately, Dr. Mason reacted quickly. Otherwise, it would have been Isolde who got scalded.” 

Joycelyn did not explain further. She did not want to leave an impression of being unreasonable to Isolde, Holding Rocky, she walked over to its large dog crate and said, “It’s a good thing Isolde is fine. I’ll go feed it now.” 

“Where’s the burn?” Ellison said. “Let me see. I’ll get William to buy some medicine.” 

He knew that Joycelyn cared about this puppy. Noticing that her eyes were filled with heartache, he walked forward and parted Rocky’s fur to check. 

Rocky seemed to be terrified of Ellison and kept burrowing into Joycelyn’s arms. 

Joycelyn comforted it softly, saying, “It’s okay. Good boy…” 

Putting his obsession with cleanliness aside, Ellison pressed Rocky into Joycelyn’s arms to check its burned spot. “It really is.” he said. 

Rocky trembled in Joycelyn’s arms and whimpered as it snuggled into her arms, making her heart ache even more. 

She didn’t expect that Rocky would be hurt in her own home. 

“Grandma, I’ll find two more caretakers to look after you,” Ellison said, his voice carrying a hint of coldness. “If something as minor as serving water or making coffee ends up burning Dr. Mason again next time, it won’t be worth the trouble.” 

Just as Ellison finished speaking. Leah stepped out, having changed into a clean shirt. 

when she heard this, her expression became somewhat awkward “Im sorry,” she said. “It’s my mistake. I scared Isolde too.

Holding Rocky in her arms, Joycelyn comforted Leah, saying, “I nothing serious. Dr. Mason, you don’t have to blame yourself. After all, you got hurt too. You weren’t burned, right? Do you want to go to the hospital to get checked out!” 

Since Leah was a guest, Joycelyn naturally had to show the hostess’s hospitality. 

“It’s nothing serious,” Leah said. “I have spare medicine in my first aid kit. I’ll get it.” 

With that said, she walked out of the home and went to the multipurpose vehicle to get the first aid kit. 

Isolde sighed and said, “Oh dear, it’s all my fault as I wanted to have some coffee.” 

Joycelyn smiled gently and eased Isolde’s feelings of guilt. “Isolde, it’s only right that you get whatever you want to eat and drink since it’s rare for you to be home,” she said. “It’s my fault and Ellison’s for not taking good care of you. I’ll go and feed Rocky first, and I’ll come back to keep you company later.” 

“Alright.” Joycelyn was good–tempered, which made Isolde gratified and fond of her. 

Joycelyn carried Rocky to feed it dog food and even opened two extra cans to comfort it. 

Leah took the first aid kit to the bathroom to apply the medicine When she saw Joycelyn feeding the dog, she walked over with the ointment and said, “I heard the puppy got burned earlier. Do you want to use this ointment?” 

“It’s okay,” Joycelyn said. “It’s not seriously hurt. Just giving it some food to comfort it will be enough.” She squatted down and gently stroked Rocky’s soft fur. 

Leah bent her knees at a slight angle and said with a faint smile, Mrs. Grant, you’ve been married to Mr. Grant for some time, right? How come you keep your marriage a secret and there isn’t even a wedding photo? Are you and Mr. Grant really a married couple?” 

When Joycelyn heard this, she thought Leah really had no sense of boundaries in private. 

As Joycelyn didn’t answer, Leah immediately added, “Don’t be angry. I’m just a little curious. I heard that you’re Mr. Grant’s subordinate in his company. Both of you are not well–matched in terms of family background, so things won’t end well. 

“It’s better to let go early to have less hurt. You won’t be able to handle a man of Mr. Grant’s status.” 

Joycelyn smiled and thought, This daughter of a prestigious medical family is that concerned about someone else’s husband, huh?”
