“Grandma, don’t worry, Ellison said. “We’ve got under floor heating and a whole–home temperature control system. You won’t feel cold, and no drafts can get in Ellison walked to the foyer and tapped the wall–mounted screen to activate the smart home system. 

“Isolde, come in quickly,” Joycelyn said. “I’ve got a puppy, and it’s so much fun.” She turned around and picked up Rocky. who had been following her. 

“Oh dear,” Isolde immediately exclaimed when she saw the furry little bundle. 

“Ellison hates keeping pets the most, always complaining about germs and how dirty they are, Isolde continued. “He lets you keep a puppy. Looks like this brat’s principles aren’t set in stone after all. She extended her hand to Rocky. 

Isolde liked little pets too. They were obedient and clingy, just like raising a child. Having one around was a kind of comfort. Joycelyn placed Rocky in Isolde’s arms and said, “Its name is Rocky. “Mrs. Grant, your home is gorgeous,” she said. “This is obviously Mr. Grant’s style. It’s a refined and minimalist aesthetic with a touch of luxury.” 

Joycelyn didn’t say much or explain further. Instead, she just responded with a brief acknowledgment. “Yeah,” she said. 

Seeing that she didn’t take the bait, Leah sighed and said, “I really envy you, Mrs. Grant.” 

Her words were filled with jealousy. 

“Isolde, Dr. Mason, you may go to the living room and relax for bit,” Joycelyn said. “Dinner might be a little late.” 

They arrived an hour earlier than the agreed–upon time, so the dishes were not ready yet. 

“It’s fine,” Leah said. “Tll help you.” She put down her handbag and walked toward Joycelyn with a gentle smile. 

“It’s okay,” Joycelyn said. “You’re a guest. It’s not right to have a guest help.‘ She declined Leah’s offer and instead pulled Ellison over. 

“Didn’t you just say you didn’t need my help?” Ellison said with a faint smile, looking at the woman who was tugging at his 

shirt. 

“Well, that’s because Isolde has arrived. I’m worried that I won’t finish cooking on time. Lend me a hand, please.” Joycelyn blinked her clear and innocent eyes, making Ellison turn soft–hearted. 

“Sure, Mrs, Grant. Feel free to tell me what to do. Ellison did not refuse. 

The couple cooperated well in the kitchen. 

Isolde and Luna kept glancing sideways, their eyes filled with surprise and joy. 

“This rascal has never set foot in the kitchen before,” Isolde said, smiling continuously. “Looks like we’re in for a treat today.” 

‘He gives her so much indulgence, so it must be true love,’ she thought. 

Isolde felt quite frustrated with herself for ever doubting that their relationship was just an act 

While brewing coffee, Leah said with a smile, “Mr. Grant treats Mrs. Grant really well. Looks like our previous worries were all unnecessary.” 

With that gentle tone and sincere gaze, it looked like Leah was genuinely wishing for them to be happy. 

In reality, this was not the case. As soon as Leah finished speaking, she brought a cup of freshly brewed coffee for Isolde 

The bottom of the cup was covered in scalding coffee. As she handed it to Isolde, the coffee at the bottom of the cup dripped onto Rocky, who was in Isolde’s arms. 

The puppy yelped in pain from the burn, as if it was frightened by the stress reaction. It struggled to get up and knocked the coffee cup in Leah’s hand in one move, 

Leah reacted quickly, directing the coffee cup toward herself and not splashing a single drop onto Isolde 

“Ah!” she cried out in pain from the burn. 

“Dr. Mason, are you alright? It was Luna who stepped forward it. She supported Leah and helped her pull the clothes stuck to her skin away.

I’m fine,” Leah said. “The dog isn’t scalded, right?” Leah didn’t care about the steaming coffee stains on her clothes. Instead, she looked worriedly at Rocky, who was hiding behind the sofa, 

“Quick, go check on it,” Isolde said, clearly not expecting this sudden situation. “Make sure it didn’t get burned.” She then called out to Joycelyn. “Joycelyn, quickly find Dr. Mason a shirt to change into.” 

Joycelyn and Ellison heard the commotion and hurried over. 

Looking at the large stain of coffee on Leah’s clothes, they asked worriedly, “What’s wrong? Were you scalded?” 

“Rocky was frightened for some reason earlier, Isolde said. “Dr. Mason was serving me coffee, and it suddenly jumped, knocking over the coffee cup 

Upon hearing Isolde’s words, Joycelyn glanced at Rocky, who was hiding behind the sofa with an innocent and frightened expression. 

“Alright,” she said. “I’ll go find a shirt.” She went upstairs to look for a shirt. 

Leah’s eyes were teary, yet she still comforted everyone gently: sying that she was fine, appearing sensible and tough. 

“If you’re scalded, go to the hospital to get it treated, Ellison said 

“It’s nothing serious, Leah said. “I’m a doctor myself. Just rinsing it with water will be fine. May I use your bathroom?” Leah’s tone was apologetic as she asked for Ellison’s consent. 

Joycelyn, who had just gone upstairs, suddenly stopped in her tracks upon hearing that 

“Sure,” Ellison replied in a serious voice. 

Leah’s gentle face revealed a faint smile as she said, “Thank you, Mr. Grant.” 

With that said, she walked toward the stairs and looked at Joycelyn, who was standing on the staircase, with a particularly radiant smile.. 

There was no trace of the pitiable appearance she had when she was injured earlier. 

Although Leah was smiling, there seemed to be a sense of pride in the depths of her eyes. She was not as dignified and harmless as she appeared. 

Joycelyn was sure she wasn’t mistaken. 

“There’s a bathroom for maids on the first floor, so you don’t have to go upstairs,” Ellison said, his deep and authoritative voice making Leah suddenly stop in her tracks.
