Chapter 288
Her grandmother stumbled and nearly fell.
Fortunately, Ana was right beside her and caught her quickly. “Grandma, are you okay?”
Seeing her grandmother almost fall had made Ana’s heart race with terror. She was still shaken.
Her grandmother pressed her lips together and shook her head. “I’m fine. I just got a bit carried away earlier, and now my legs feel weak.”
Ana paused, then laughed.
That made sense–when she’d seen her grandmother emerge with that gross, stinky mop, she’d been completely shocked. She couldn’t believe her usually composed grandmother would do something like that.
Her grandmother smiled sheepishly, but the smile quickly faded.
She gripped Ana’s hand tightly and said seriously, “Ana, people can pick on me all they want, but I won’t let anyone hurt you! You’re the person your mother and I love most, and we’ll protect you for life. As long as I can still move, I’ll always stand in front of you!”
Ana felt deeply moved, her eyes welling up and her nose stinging.
“Grandma, I…” she started.
Some words were just too hard to say in front of her grandmother–it felt awkward somehow.
Maybe that was just the reserved way people expressed emotions in their culture.
“Hm? Ana, what did you want to say?” Her grandmother saw Ana’s lips move and thought she’d spoken.
Ana shook her head, thinking that she’d have to be extra good to her grandmother from now on.
“You must be hungry. Let’s go eat.”
“Okay.”
When they entered the private dining room, Cassian had already ordered. The food was ready to serve as soon as they arrived.
Cassian had ordered all of Ana and her grandmother’s favorite dishes.
He served food to both Ana and her grandmother, then leaned close to Ana’s ear and whispered, “Did something happen out there?”
Ana shook her head. “This garlic butter salmon smells amazing! It tastes so good.”
Cassian knew Ana was deliberately avoiding his question, but he didn’t want her grandmother to notice anything, so he casually said, “Yeah, it’s great. This dish was really popular online, but H–Garden doesn’t usually serve it. They mostly do French cuisine, so I had their chef prepare it specially.”

Ana smiled as she ate. The so lucky to get the limited edition Version.”
If you like n. I can have them make li ngain.” Cassinn said.
“Sounds good.”
In another private room. Vinsen was having dinner with Griffin And others when he suddenly felt his nose itch and let out a loud sneeze. “Who’s thinking about the?”
“Why assume someone’s thinking about you? Maybe someone’s cursing you,” Griffin replied.
“Screw off” Vinsen said irritably.
Just then. Ana’s phone buzzed again.
It vibrated several times in a row.
Cassian noticed and looked at her. “What’s up?”
Ana smiled. “I don’t know who it is. I usually don’t check my phone while eating, but I guess I’ll have to make an exception.”
Ana pulled out her phone. It was from an unknown number, but the number looked familiar somehow.
She opened the messages:
I checked–no cameras around. It’s a blind spot. I helped you out big time. How are you going to repay me?
Since you’re not answering, I’ll take that as a yes.
Meet me at our usual place.
Why aren’t you responding? Ana, answer me!
Ana finally remembered why the phone number looked familiar–it was very similar to Jasper’s old number, with only the last two digits changed.
Did Jasper have some weird obsession? Knowing she’d blocked him, he got a new number to harass her, and he chose a similar one–was he afraid she wouldn’t know it was him?
Ana felt disgusted. “Our usual place“? Was he insane?
After reading the messages, Ana felt like throwing up. Her good appetite was completely ruined by these revolting texts.
Cassian sensed Ana’s mood change immediately. He gently placed his hand on her shoulder. “What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing,” Ana said.
She’d originally planned to just block this new number too.
But then she remembered what her grandmother had told her about being open in relationships. She showed Cassian her phone. “I wasn’t planning to hide this–it seemed like such a trivial matter. I didn’t expect someone to be this disgusting.”

Seeing the situation, Cassian’s expression darkened, a flash of murderous intent in his eyes.
His hands clenched into fists. “Since he wants to meet, let’s meet.”
Ana was stunned, looking at Cassian in shock. Was he really being this generous? Or was he secretly planning something?
As if reading her thoughts, Cassian held out his hand for Ana’s phone.
Ana was confused but handed it over..
Cassian took the phone and replied with one word: Okay.
After dinner, Cassian told her grandmother that he and Ana were going on a date, so she should rest at home.
