Chapter 173
Hearing Anastasia’s words made Cassian’s heart race.
If they weren’t at the family estate right now, he would’ve pinned her against the nearest wall and had his way with her completely.
Watching their intimate moment, Yuria’s face went dark as a thundercloud.
Her hands balled into fists as she snapped, “Anastasia, you stole someone else’s man and you have the balls to act all cute about it?”
“Cassian, Ana, it’s getting pretty late. Why don’t you guys just crash here tonight instead of driving home? Tomorrow we can all go see Elisabeth together,” Lancey suggested.
Cassian didn’t answer right away–he looked at Anastasia first.
He knew she was a people–pleaser who always tried to make everyone happy.
She’d probably say yes just because she wouldn’t want to let Lancey down.
But Cassian could read her like a book. If she wasn’t actually cool with staying, he’d get them out of there.
Finally, Anastasia spoke up. “Yeah, that sounds perfect.”
Cassian watched her face carefully until he was sure she really meant it–no hidden reluctance.
Since they were at the family estate, both Cassian and Anastasia had been keeping things pretty PG all evening, which was driving them both crazy.
“Tonight, when we get home, we’re gonna…” Cassian whispered in her ear, his hot breath sending shivers down her spine.
Lightning shot straight up Anastasia’s back, making her whole body buzz.
She quickly slipped out of his arms, grabbing for her phone. “I… I should call Grandma and check on her.”
“Good thinking,” Cassian said with that knowing smirk that made her knees weak.
Anastasia stepped out into the garden to FaceTime Elisabeth. When her grandmother picked up, Anastasia spotted someone in Rhodes family staff uniform in the background.
She looked confused, but before she could ask, Elisabeth jumped in. “Ana, honey, when I woke up this morning, there were already people here from your new family. A whole team of them taking amazing care of me–they’re so sweet. I sent your a text about it, did you see?”
Anastasia had been way too distracted to check her messages.
Last night Cassian had been especially… demanding. The second they’d gotten to their room, he’d been all over her before she could even think.
“Lancey and I are gonna come visit you later today,” Anastasia told her grandmother.
“Oh… well, that’s very nice of her.” Elisabeth figured that as Anastasia’s mother–in–law, Lancey visiting was totally normal. She couldn’t really say no.
Rich families had all these social rules and expectations–she got it.
“They already brought over a ridiculous amount of food and vitamins and stuff. Tell them not to bring more–I’m just one old lady, I can’t possibly eat all this.”
“Will do, Grandma.”
Honestly, Anastasia knew that even if she promised, Lancey was gonna do whatever she thought was right anyway.
But she had a feeling Lancey would handle everything perfectly.
