“I’m not leaving!”

Lucas grabbed Yasmeen’s wrist when she was pushing him. He then pulled her and hugged her in his arms.

“Lucas, let go of me! I want to be alone right now!”

Yasmeen struggled.

She didn’t know what was going on with her. It was as if a shameful part of her was exposed to Lucas and it made her lose control.

How did he find out?

She thought she hid it well, but he still found out anyways.

Lucas was nice to her in the past few days because of the kidney, right?

She thought Lucas really accepted her feelings, she thought that she finally managed to get into his heart. But what was this?

“I’m begging you, please let me be alone!”

Yasmeen moved her hand and tried to push Lucas out once again, but Lucas grabbed her hand. She could feel his warm breath on her face. His eyes turned dim.

“Yasmeen, do you really think that I love you because of this kidney?”

She looked away and didn’t say anything, but her eyes were getting redder.

Lucas scoffed, “Fine. If you really think so, then I’ll give it back to you.”

He then pushed her away and left the room.

Yasmeen was stunned.

What did he mean by giving it back to her?

Yasmeen’s mind went blank. His words kept repeating in her mind.

When she finally realized what was happening, her face went pale, and she quickly rushed out of the room.

“Lucas, don’t you dare!”

“You can donate it to me, but I also have the choice to not accept it. Isn’t that right?”

Lucas stood in the corridor. He looked disheartened and crestfallen.

“Don’t do this to me!”

“This is on you! Yasmeen, I don’t want your kidney anymore. If you think I only love you because of this, then let me ask you something. Did you ask for my permission when you decided to donate your kidney to me? Did you ask if I want to be indebted to you or not? What now, you can decide things on your own, but I can’t? If you think that a kidney can determine my feelings, then I’ll give it back to you! You can give it to whoever else and I don’t give a damn!”

He then turned around and leave.

Lucas was really mad this time!

This was Yasmeen’s first thought.

Lucas ignored and shunned her a lot, but he never really got angry. There weren’t many people that could make Lucas get angry.

And Yasmeen was the lucky one.

But why did she feel pain in her heart? Why did she feel so sad?

Patrick laughed after seeing Yasmeen hesitating. He said, “Am I right, Yasmeen? Be it love or gratitude, there’s no need to be so black and white about it. Since Lucas likes you, then you’ll be his future wife. If you still want to marry him, isn’t this a God-given opportunity? Truthfully speaking, men are not as free as you think we are. We have many responsibilities on our shoulders such as careers and families. We are born with many responsibilities. For you, love may be everything, but to me and Lucas it’s not the only thing in life. If you want to force all your feelings onto Lucas and make him only think about loving you, then I would advise you to give up on Lucas. You can find yourself a happy-go-lucky man instead, then he can shower you with love and affection every day. You guys won’t have to do anything else, how nice.”

Yasmeen felt disgusted upon hearing what Patrick said.

Then she wouldn’t be looking for a husband.

She would just be keeping a boy toy.

Why would she want a boy toy that didn’t have a temper or a personality?

Yasmeen felt much more reassured after this.

Maybe what Patrick said was right.

Feelings were just feelings after all. She was making a mole out of an anthill.

The jealousy in her heart was rekindling her feelings when she thought about what would happen if Lucas left her and be with some other woman. He would treat them how he treated her, and she wouldn’t have that.

She squeezed Patrick’s cheek after organizing her thoughts. She laughed, “You’re the best brother one could ever have. Thank you. If I get him back again, I’ll watch your back no matter what outrageous things you do.”

“Go now. I don’t think Lucas is in a good mood right now. You made him angry just now, you should think about how to reconcile with him.”

Patrick pushed Yasmeen’s hand away. What he said made Yasmeen pull a long face.
