“Mom, how did you know about this? Who told you this? Who’s spreading this rumour?”

Yasmeen subconsciously tried to hide it.

Ashley said angrily, “Rumour? Okay, then come with me to the clinic and I’ll check it for you. I’ll see for myself how many kidneys do you still have. If you still have two, then I’ll apologize to you. If not, you’re done for.”

She tried to yank Yasmeen to the clinical laboratory.

“I’m not going!”

Yasmeen didn’t want to go. She grabbed the corner of the wall with one hand and didn’t want to leave.

What was going on? She would be exposed if her mother gave her a checkup.

How did her mother find out about this?

Yasmeen was so baffled.

Jaydon noticed that Yasmeen didn’t want to leave and Ashley was trying to bring her away by force. She went up and stood in front of Yasmeen, “Dr. Ashley, please let her go. Otherwise, I have to do something about you.”

“You dare to touch me?”

Ashley thought that she was joking.

She was just teaching her daughter a lesson. Who did Jaydon think she was to come out to stop her?

But Jaydon answered nonchalantly, “Young Master told me to protect Miss Shaw no matter what. I don’t care that you’re her mother. If you hurt her, I’ll protect her.”

Ashley was taken aback. She glared at Jaydon intensely, but Jaydon stared back at her without fear. She didn’t care that Ashley was scrutinizing her. She didn’t question anything.

Patrick saw everything and was amazed by Lucas’ subordinate’s ability.

Yasmeen noticed that things were about to go south. She quickly went up and grabbed Jaydon’s shoulder, “Jaydon, this is my mom. She’s just messing with me, no need to be so serious.”

“No, Young Master told me to protect you from everything before he comes back. Otherwise, I would be neglecting my duty.”

Yasmeen felt speechless facing such a one-track minded person.

But Ashley started laughing. She let go of Yasmeen and said to Jaydon, “Can you get Lucas to come over here?”

“Young Master said that I can’t leave Miss Shaw, not even for a bit. Young Master will come over when the time comes. Dr. Ashley, please be patient. I’ll give him a call right now.”

She walked away after saying that and immediately made a call to Lucas.

Lucas quickly rushed to Yasmeen’s ward after hearing from Jaydon that Yasmeen and Ashley were arguing in the room. His conversation with Joseph came to an abrupt stop.

“Aunty Ashley, please calm down.”

Lucas walked into the room swiftly. Yasmeen hurriedly walked up to him also.

“Are you alright? Why did my dad hit you? Let me see your wounds.”

She went up and tried to take his clothes off after saying that.

The expression on Ashley’s face turned grim and she cleared her throat.

“Yasmeen!”

Lucas was also blushing.

Yasmeen wasn’t embarrassed about her actions even if people were around them.

Lucas grabbed her hand and said in a low voice, “I’m fine, be good.”

Yasmeen glared at Ashley unhappily. She muttered, “How dare you guys bully my dearest when I’m not around.”

“What did you say? I dare you to repeat yourself, I didn’t hear you well.”

She was happy when Lucas agreed to date her. She didn’t think about why Lucas would suddenly agree to it. She just thought that she finally managed to win his heart, but that didn’t seem to be the case.

“So, you agreed to date me because you felt indebted to me?”

Yasmeen’s whole body was trembling. Her eyes were tearing up and she stared at Lucas blankly.

Lucas knew that right now Yasmeen had to be feeling bad and uneasy. He stared her straight in the eyes and replied, “No, if the kidney wasn’t yours, then I would probably give my gratitude through giving the person a lot of money and promising them prosperity, wealth and opportunity for as long as they live. I wouldn’t promise to marry or love them. My love isn’t that cheap. But Yasmeen, from this incident I found out that you really loved me with all your might. Hence, I decided to give you and myself a chance. I like and love you. This was also something I discovered recently. I’m sorry that I’m only telling you this now.”

Even though Lucas gave her an explanation, Yasmeen didn’t seem happy about it.

She wasn’t sure if Lucas was telling the truth or not and didn’t know how she should face him right now. She just felt that the matter that she tried her best to hide was exposed already. It was as if everything she did was a joke.

“Lucas, I wasn’t planning to use this to pressure you into loving me. I wasn’t hoping to get you to love me in return by doing this. If you’re with me just because you’re grateful…”

Even Yasmeen knew that she was being a bitch about this.

But this was something that was bothering her the whole time. She wanted to tell Lucas the truth after they got together, but she didn’t think that Lucas already knew everything.

Yasmeen was in agony. Her eyes were tearing up and she felt awkward and miserable.

“I’m sorry, I want to be alone. Can you guys all leave the room?”

Everyone was worried seeing her so upset all of the sudden. They all decided that they shouldn’t do anything to agitate her right now, and hence they left the room. Except for Lucas, he stood there like a log. He looked at Yasmeen with determination in his eyes.

Yasmeen felt pressured by his gawk. She took a step forward, grabbed Lucas’ hand and tried to push him out of the door.
