Divorcing My Husband Over His Stepsister's Secret novel Chapter 326

Chapter 326

Blake’s POV:

My hand froze in midair, fork suspended between us as I watched Anna flinch away. The sight sent a sharp pain through my chest, repening the fran wound of her violent rejection.

Her instinctive withdrawal made the cup rattle.

Sorry,she mumbled.

She hurriedly steadied the cup. I struggled to control my expression before finally placing the fork in front of her.

I was just getting you a fork,I said, deliberately softening my voice. Could you try not to recoil from me like that?

She lowered her gaze, pretending to be busy reaching for the fork. I couldn’t help but grip the other end, unwilling to let go.

Blake, everything we’re doing now is for Nora, she said. Don’t forget that when the month is up, I can leave. That’s what you promised me.

Her words stabbed into my heart like a knife. Our relationship felt like a maze where we always ended up back at the beginning

Don’t say it’s just for the child,I countered. I don’t believe you have no feelings for me at all. If you didn’t, why hasn’t there been anyone else in your life these past three years? Give me a chance to be good to you. You’re so resistant to me./

I stared at her stubbornly, waiting for an answer. She suddenly released her grip on the fork. The momentum caused my elbow to slam hard against the chair beside me.

Watching her pull a napkin and fidget with it before standing up, I knew she was about to run away again.

Actually, I’m not very hungry, she said, preparing to leave.

I pushed an elegant gift box from the edge of the table to the center. If you don’t have an appetite, you could try some of this.

You don’t need to-

I went out and bought it specifically while you were sleeping this afternoon. Since you wouldn’t come with me, I had to buy it myself. If you eat it, we can pretend we had dinner together.

Does it really matter if we eat a meal together? Her tone was full of detachment.

It matters very much,I replied, emphasizing each word. In our four years of marriage, I never sincerely invited you to a dinner without some ulterior motive. But now, I simply want to eat with you. That’s all.

The corner of her mouth turned up slightly, but with a bitterness to it. You don’t need to be quite so honest.

*If you don’t want to eat, I won’t force you. You can throw it away if you like,I continued, though secretly hoping she’d change her mind.`

She said nothing, just turned and walked toward the stairs. Watching her retreating figure, a surge of anger rose within me. I tossed the carefully prepared meal box into the garbage and kicked the corner of the dining table hard. The table legs scraped against the floor with a grating noise that seemed to mock my pathetic state.

Anna’s POV:

I went to Blake’s bedroom to check on Nora. The little one was sleeping with rosy cheeks.

She didn’t yet know that tomorrow she wouldn’t be going to preschool, but to the hospital instead.

At an age when other children were attending school or visiting playgrounds, Nora had to make frequent hospital trips, breathing in the antiseptic smell she disliked so much.

Chapter 326

It was heartbreaking. I sighed softly as I stood up, turning to find the doorway blocked,

Blake stood with his arms crossed, leaning against the doorframe, halfhidden in shadow. I had no idea how long he’d been standing there

He seemed to have composed himself, with no trace of his earlier displeasure. I approached and asked quietly, What time tomorrow?

Blake considered for a moment. We need to leave by seventhirty.

That’s early.

Nora’s cognitive functions are more active in the morning,Blake explained. The test results will be more accurate. Or I could take Nora first, and you can come over after you’ve had enough sleep.

Blake looked at me with tenderness, as if I were some delicate flower requiring special care.

I glared back defiantly, my voice quiet but firm. I’m not that fond of sleeping in. You should rest early thoughdon’t make Nora late for her hospital appointment tomorrow!

Blake nodded without further comment, but his expression conveyed a helpless bitterness, silently reproaching me.

Well, I should go now.

Having confirmed the time, there was no reason to linger.

Blake nodded, gesturing with his eyes that I could leave.

Whether deliberately or not, his body remained firmly in place by the door.

He’d left me only a quarter of the space to exit. How was I supposed to leave? If I tried to squeeze through that narrow gap, I’d inevitably have to press against his body to get through.

I raised my hand to push his shoulder away, but he caught my wrist and pinned it against the wall.

He leaned toward me, his deep blue eyes seemingly filled with a thousand unspoken words as he steadily closed the distance between us.

The faint scent of his cologne mingled with coffee enveloped me. There was no escapehis distinctive scent overwhelmed my senses.

Blake

I turned my head toward Nora, afraid we might wake her, and whispered my protest.

He cupped my chin, forcing me to face him. I saw the profound resignation in his expression as his blue eyes fixed on my lips.

Those few seconds felt like an eternity. As his face drew closer, I instinctively shut my eyes tight, my body tensing to avoid whatever was about to happen.
