Chapter 307
Anna’s POV:
I jolted back to consciousness as the driver’s window shattered, glass fragments spraying across the interior of the car.
Through my drugged haze, I watched a fist punch through the broken window, grabbing Richard Thompson by his collar and yanking him out with incredible force. His head smacked against the door frame before he disappeared from view.
Outside, I heard harsh breathing and the sounds of a struggle. My heart hammered against my ribs as terror gave way to hope.
“Please… Mr. Wright… I didn’t hurt her, Richard’s desperate voice filtered through. “I was just… just catching up with Ms. Anderson! For old times saket
Blake? My mind struggled to process this information. Blake came for me?
Relief flooded through me, making my body go limp. At least I wouldn’t end up in Frank’s bed tonight.
“What else were you planning to do to her?” Blake’s voice was ice cold, completely devoid of emotion.
I heard a sickening crunch followed by Richard’s howl of pain.
Suddenly, the passenger door swung open. I screamed, my body instinctively pressing back against the seat. Cold sweat broke out across my forehead.
Blake slid into the seat beside me, his hands immediately moving over my body–not in a sexual way, but clinically, checking for injuries. His face was a mask of controlled fury, his blue eyes scanning me from head to toe.
“Scared now?” His voice was as cold as his expression. The chill of his breath seemed to freeze the air between us.
I couldn’t answer. My tongue felt swollen in my mouth, and my thoughts scattered like broken glass.
Blake’s POV
After finishing my inspection of Anna, I pressed my hand against my forehead, exhaling heavily.
“Damn!” I muttered under my breath.
I turned to Anna, anger radiating from me in waves. ‘Anna, can you go one fucking day without causing me problems? When I heard you came here alone, I was at the airport. Did you even consider what would happen if I couldn’t get back in time? What then?”
I was at the airport meeting Seth. Daniel called Seth, and Seth told me. “Because when she was in danger before, I was the one by her side!” That’s what Seth said to me. I drove like a madman to get here.
Anna remained silent, staring at her hands. She wouldn’t even look at me. What did I expect? An apology? Gratitude? After everything that had happened between us, neither seemed appropriate.
‘Forget it, I snapped, stepping out. “I’m done dealing with you.”
Outside, I lit a cigarette. Something about seeing Anna so vulnerable had unleashed a primal rage I barely managed to control.
My security team arrived. I gave them brief instructions to handle Richard, deliberately keeping my back to Anna.
My chest felt tight. Was she disappointed that Seth wasn’t her rescuer? The thought stung more than it should have.
Finally, I turned back toward the car, my expression carefully neutral.
“Seth is out of the country,” I said flatly. “He won’t be coming. Are you coming with me, or do you want to find your own way home? If you choose to go alone, the next time you’re in trouble, I won’t be there to help you.”
I couldn’t hide my disappointment. Before she could answer, I shook my head.

„Fine: 1 get it. I raid, turning away.
Anna’s POV
Blake, I called out, my voice barely nudible.
He turned immediately, his eyes meeting mine. The intensity of his gaze seemed to say, Don’t disappoint me again.
My nose burned with unshed tears as my vision blurred. I swallowed hard, forcing the words past my lips.
“Blake, take me away…”
When Blake lifted me from the car, it felt as though my soul had separated from my body. He cradled me against his chest, carefully arranging my dress. He draped his suit jacket over me, the fabric still warm from his body..
As my consciousness faded, I surrendered to the security of his embrace.
I woke with a start, realizing I was in our bedroom at Seaside Manor. Panic seized me as I remembered I was supposed to pick up Nora from preschool.
Oh God, Nora!
I bolted from the bed and rushed toward the door. In the hallway, I froze. Blake stood there, Nora cradled in one arm. My daughter’s small arms were wrapped around his neck, her head resting on his shoulder.
The sight hit me like a physical blow. Tears spilled down my cheeks.
Blake reacted instantly, covering Nora’s eyes with his hand.
‘Mommy’s just really happy to see you, sweetheart,” he said tenderly. “Let’s go get your storybook so we can read it to Mommy later, okay?”
Nora nodded, seemingly content. Blake carried her away.
My legs gave out, and I slid down against the wall. I hugged my knees to my chest.
Blake returned without Nora. He crouched beside me, his expression softer than I’d seen in years.
“Cry if you want to,” he said simply, pressing a quick kiss to my cheek. “I’ll keep Nora occupied.”
After a few minutes, I wiped my face and returned to the bedroom. Í examined the room–the same blue Egyptian cotton sheets, not the frilly pink one
Claire had insisted on.
I opened the closet to find my old nightgowns. Claire had destroyed these items, yet here they were, pristine.
‘Can time really flow backward?” I whispered.
A splitting headache suddenly overtook me. I pressed my hands against my temples as the ceiling seemed to transform. The pain pulled me under, into darkness with only a single yellowish lamp providing light.
When I opened my eyes again, a doctor was leaning over me.
“Be careful! You hit her head!” Blake’s angry voice came from nearby.
blinked. Blake was beside me on the bed, his hand moving from my forehead to my hand.
“Mrs. Wright, you’re awake!” the doctor exclaimed. “You’ve been asleep for two days. Mr. Wright hasn’t left your side.”
“That’s enough, Blake cut him off. Then, to me: “Is anything hurting?”
I shook my head, trying to sit up.

‘I recommend you eat something light,” the doctor suggested before leaving.
