Divorcing My Husband Over His Stepsister's Secret novel Chapter 294

Chapter 294

Anna’s POV:

I couldn’t breathe.

Three years apart, yet he still had the power to terrify me. His eyes burned with an intensity that made me want to run, to hide, to disappear.

How am I supposed to face his hatred? Between us, who owes whom more? I’ve never truly forgotten him. My hatred for him probably runs as deep as his for me. I just hope Nora never follows in my footsteps, never gets caught in this web of resentment.

I looked at Blake provocatively, summoning what little courage I had left. I’m thirty now. Do I still have any appeal in your eyes?

Blake’s gaze scorched me, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed hard. The tension between us was palpable, electric.

What’s the point of bringing up the past?I continued, pushing further. Missing my body?

A flush crept across Blake’s face, his eyes flickering with something I couldn’t quite read.

Before I could react, Blake had me backed against the wall, his body uncomfortably close to mine. Leave Seth,he said, his voice low and dangerous. I won’t interfere with BlueWave Technologies. You can have whatever you want, OK?

I reached out, my fingers brushing against his chest. How about we sleep together once, and then you get the hell out of my life?

Blake’s gaze darkened, becoming unfathomable. The air between us solidified, making it hard to breathe.

In one swift motion, Blake scooped me up and carried me inside, throwing me unceremoniously onto the sofa. No way!he spat.

I glared at him, fury bubbling up inside me.

You haven’t improved at all,he sneered. After all these years, still using the same tactics. Seth must have poor taste to fall for this.

I noticed a flicker of agitation on Blake’s face, barely perceptible but definitely there.

He turned abruptly and strode toward the kitchen, his steps just a little too hurried.

While Blake was cooking, I took the opportunity to observe my surroundings. The place felt both familiar and strange. All of Claire’s stuff was gone, and there was no trace of Claire’s overpowering perfume that used to permeate every corner.

The furniture and soft furnishings are old models, but they look brand new, with no signs of use. Even the lawn is too new, unnaturally green.

Something else caught my attention. Someone’s been living here and taking care of this place. The fish tank is too wellmaintained to be neglected.

When Blake returned, I asked directly, Have you and Claire moved out?

What if she moved out on her own?he countered.

I pressed my lips together, waiting for him to elaborate.

She moved out three years ago,Blake said calmly./I had my secretary renovate and redecorate this place according to your old preferences. Everything is new. I’ve gotten used to living here.

I stared at him, bewildered by his words and actions.

Nothing to say?Blake asked, searching my face.

I shook my head. No.

You’ve said enough. His voice dropped, then rose again.I shouldn’t have brought you here. Shouldn’t have expected anything. Get out.

Chapter 294

The sudden shift caught me off guard, and I couldn’t hide the hurt that flashed across my face,

I glanced at my watch. If I leave now, I can still take Nora to preschool. Til go then

Blake placed a heated skillet in the sink, and hot oil immediately splashed onto his forearm.

He sucked in a sharp breath of pain but made no move to help himself.

Blake!I cried out. Run it under water! Cold water!

I told you to get out!he shouted. Are you deaf?

I raised my voice. Blake, do you have any common sense? Oil burns need to be rinsed with cold water immediately! Run it under water now! Are you stupid?

Blake shook off my hand. I don’t need your help! Get as far away from me as possible! I’m sick of seeing you!

I grabbed his sleeve. Where are you going? Come here! Rinse it!

Blake let out a cold laugh. Anna, are you a masochist? I told you to leave, but you insist on meddling. Are you a doctor? Are you showing off?

His words stung, and my eyes welled up with tears. Fine, I was justI was justI’m leaving.

As I turned to walk away, tears sliding down my cheeks, Blake pulled me into his arms from behind. It still hurts,he murmured. Unbutton my shirt, help me take it off.

My body stiffened, tears flowing freely now.

I can’t give him another chance to insult me. I can’t appear this pathetic again.

Blake, do as you please,I said. I won’t interfere anymore.

His embrace tightened, squeezing me until I could barely breathe.

Blake forcefully turned me to face him. Help me unbutton it.

My fingers trembled as I mechanically undid several buttons, then clenched my fists.

Blake said softly. I know you don’t like me touching you. Anna, look at me. If you want to draw a clear line between us, why are you wavering?
