Anna’s POV:
Seth stood there, holding my hand after helping me regain my balance. The evening air in the secluded park felt suddenly thick with tension.
His eyes locked with mine as he leaned forward, his intention clear as day. He was
to
kiss me.
Seth,” I said, my voice firmer than 1 expected.
He froze, then slowly pulled back, his eyes never leaving mine. “Anna, I’m done pretending. I have feelings for you, and that’s normal, isn’t it? I want to hold you, kiss you, actually have you. Twenty years, Anna. I’ve been waiting for twenty fucking years. Don’t make me wait anymore, okay?”
His voice was soft but desperate, stripped of the usual cockiness. I didn’t respond immediately. Could I really step out of the shadow of my failed marriage? Did I have the courage to love again?
Seth straightened up, disappointment etche
across
his face. ‘Let’s go. I’ll drive you home.”
I grabbed his suit lapel, keeping him in plac
“Seth, my last relationship was a disaster. I heard so many fake promises. That failed marriage made me stop believing in love. So all your sweet talk, everything you do for me–I discount it all. That’s not fair to you, is it?”
Seth took my hand in his. “The day Nora was born, I prayed in that hospital hallway for five hours straight. I told God he could take my life if it meant you and your daughter would be okay. Everything that happened after Nora was born, whether you needed me or not, I was there.”
His eyes darkened. “I’m confessing now because–I’ll admit it–I’m scared. You saw Blake, and I’m terrified. I remember how you looked past me when they wheeled you out of the delivery room. As much as I hate to admit it, you’ve been waiting for him all along, haven’t you? Waiting for Nora’s father. He knew about her existence and never cared. Are you still waiting for him? Or let me put it another way–do you still want to be tangled up with him?”
“No,” I said firmly. “I don’t.”
Seth cupped my face in his hands. “Then stop avoiding me.”
I closed my eyes, ready to let him erase Blake’s mark on my heart. But before our lips could meet, a car horn blared. A black car swerved toward us. Seth pushed me to safety, his body shielding mine from potential impact.
The car screeched to a halt. Through the windshield, I saw Blake, his expression cold and terrifying.
“Blake Wright, are you fucking insane?” Seth shouted.
Blake’s POV:
‘Mr. Wright, Anna does have a child registered under her name. The girl’s name
Nora Price. Melissa’s voice was careful as she sat in my passenger seat. “It
might be because Mr. Price had just gotten divorced, so they haven’t registered their marriage yet.”
I let out a cold laugh. “So you’re saying they were together while Seth Price was still married? You’re telling me Anna loved him enough to be his mistress?”
Melissa was quiet for a moment. “How else would you explain why Nora has the last name Price…”
I gripped the steering wheel tighter, my knuckles turning white. On the surface, I looked calm, but inside, I was burning with with Seth–him touching her, claiming her–made me want to tear something apart.
Then I saw them. Right there in the park. Seth Price with his hands on Anna’s face. My Anna.
he thought of Anna
Without thinking, I slammed on the gas and jerked the wheel, the car lurching toward them. Some small part of my brain screamed at me to stop, but jealousy had taken over. I hit the brakes at the last second.
“Blake Wright, are you fucking insane?” Seth/shouted at me.
Maybe I was.

Chapter 291
Anna’s POV:
Hours later, Seth’s SUV pulled up in front of Anderson Villa, the place I used to live with my parents before I married Blake
“Aren’t you going to invite me up?” he asked, his tone deliberately light after the intense confrontation with Blake.
I said, “This place has been empty for a while. Who knows what kind of job Martha’s done cleaning it. Another time, okay?”
I gave his hand a gentle squeeze in apology.
He caught my fingers. “Still treating me like a kid.”
Seth leaned closer. “Do I look anything like that little boy now?”
“Exactly the same as twenty years ago!” I teased.
He shook his head. As I watched him drive away, I knew he was heading back to the Price family mansion not far from here.
When I walked into the villa, Martha was sitting with Nora in front of the television.
“Look who’s here!” Martha exclaimed. “It’s Mommy!”
I set down my bag and crouched, arms open wide. “Nora, did you miss Mommy?”
Nora stared at the screen, then slowly said, “Mom–my, her expression blank.
I fought back tears.. “What’s she watching, Martha? Her favorite cartoon?”
Martha shook her head. “She’s just staring at the screen, dear. Keeps playing with that same dolphin toy over and over.”
