Divorcing My Husband Over His Stepsister's Secret novel Chapter 169

Chapter 169

Anna’s POV:

I stared at my laptop screen, my face expressionless as the video played. Some random internet uter had shared foeraga of Blake and hearten heranse he was giving her yet another gift, the sunlight estching the glint of what looked like jewelry,

Blake, why do you keep giving me things? Scarlett’s voice was syrupy sweet. I dont know how to thank you anymore.

You’ve never had real support, Blake replied, his voice softer than I’d heard in ages. I’m one of the few people in your life you can count on. This is nothing you deserve it.

I’m almost jealous of Claire, she giggled. Having a brother like you must be wonderful.

Blake paused, his expression unreadable. If you need anything else, just tell me.

Scarlett covered her mouth, smiling. I’m just kidding. I have everything now. Since the day I met you, I’ve never felt like I was missing anything. Don’t worry about me. Everything’s fine.

Everything’s fine,Blake repeated, as if testing the words. Good.

I closed the video, ignoring the comments section where users were already shipping them with cute couple names.

My stomach twisted, but I forced myself to focus on my research instead.

Over the next few weeks, I threw myself into several important ocean protection projects.

My expertise and transparent research methods earned me trust in the field, and work opportunities multiplied.

EcoMarine Group’s social media accounts were thriving, though I’d noticed one particular user who kept asking questions about illegal marine wildlife harvesting.

When I received an invitation to appear on an environmental awareness TV show, I was thrilled. Finally, a chance to share my passion for marine conservation with a wider audience.

The day of the recording, I arrived at the studio to find Scarlett had replaced the scheduled hosta detail conveniently omitted from my briefing.

Scanning the audience, I spotted Blake sitting quietly in the front row. My stomach dropped.

The show began normally enough, but midway through, Scarlett veered offscript.

In the environmental project we’re discussing, one of the former project leaders abandoned her beloved marine conservation work because she couldn’t handle the pressure of scandal rumors, Scarlett said, her eyes fixed on me. I recall that Ms. Anderson was recently involved in similar rumors. I’m curious- how did you manage to continue your environmental work despite all the gossip?

My heart lurched. This ambush was clearly planned, and Blake’s silent presence suggested he approved. I felt betrayed and cornered.

Before I could answer, chaos erupted in the audience.

CRASH! A water bottle smashed against the floor.

*If the host can’t be professional, get the fuck out/ If you can’t speak properly, shut the fuck up!

Seth, dressed in black casual clothes with sunglasses and a baseball cap, was storming toward the stage. Blake’s security team immediately moved in, grabbing Seth by the arms and dragging him out of the studio.

I held my breath, worried for him. Meanwhile, Blake kept his eyes downcast throughout the commotion, making no move to intervene. He seemed to be waiting for my response.

What’s wrong, Ms. Anderson? Still haven’t emerged from the shadows?Scarlett pressed as the director zoomed in for a closeup of my face.

I didn’t know what answer Blake wanted to hear. We’ll never properly divrossed the rumors, and I had no fed if he was indifferem of valiut, but hat about the situation.

When faced with negative commentary, focusing on facts and science is the best approach, I replied conlly. Tir marine conservation, vie cely in dus est research findings. We address any questions with professional knowledge and scientific integrity

Scarlett, realizing she wouldn’t get the reaction she wanted, quickly changed tactics. Besides the tedious daily routine of scientific research, hoe does everyone like to document their lives?

The other guests answered one by onesome made videos, others wrote blogs.

I hope Ms. Anderson will give us a different answer! Scarlett chitped.

A few years ago, I used Instagram to record some moments from my life, I answered, but I don’t use it anymore.

Seizing the opportunity, Scarlett insisted I share my old Instagram posts. Someone even handed my phone to the stage.

They’re just personal thoughts, nothing interesting,I protested.

How can that be?Scarlett persisted. I’d love to know what kind of men Ms. Anderson used to like. Since we’re on TV, maybe we could even help you find your old crush. Wouldn’t that be lovely?

If only she knew that my old crush was actually her current boyfriendand my exhusbandsitting quietly in the audience.

She began reading from my old posts:
