Chapter 558
OG
Due to Werner’s refusal to cooperate, the source of the infection remained untraceable.
Cathy hadn’t suspected anything at first, but Werner’s uncooperative attitude planted seeds of doubt in her mind.
She couldn’t tell if it was just her imagination, but Cathy started feeling itchy, with tiny red bumps breaking out on her arms. The result of her medical checkup pushed her over the edge. She collapsed in tears at home, utterly overwhelmed.
Cheryl feared something terrible had happened to her family and rushed home in a panic.
Cathy clung to Cheryl and cried, “Werner betrayed me. He gave me a venereal disease.”
Cheryl said, “That’s impossible, Mom. Dad isn’t that kind of person. You know him better than anyone.”
“I used to know him so well, but now, I just don’t understand him anymore.” As Cathy spoke, she broke down into another fit of crying.
Cathy decided to go to the hospital for a thorough examination, and Cheryl accompanied her for support.
They went to Jennifer’s hospital. Jennifer said, “Luckily, it’s not condyloma acuminata. The little red spots on your skin are just an allergic reaction, and there’s some inflammation. But the HPV virus was most likely transmitted by your partner.”
Cathy asked Jennifer, “Are you saying Werner had an affair?”
Jennifer nodded. “Your previous test results were all clear, but now there’s a sudden issue. This suggests a recent infection, and he is likely the source.
Suddenly, a resounding slap landed right on Jennifer’s face.
Cheryl’s hands trembled with rage. She snapped, “What’s that supposed to mean? My dad would never do that. You’re accusing him of cheating. Do you have any proof?”
Jennifer retorted coldly, “It’s just an educated guess. If he has nothing to hide, why did he refuse testing?”
Cheryl said, “He’s in his fifties. He has his pride. So what if he didn’t want to get a check–up? Without any proof, how dare you accuse him of cheating on my mom? By your logic, can I accuse you of cheating on Donald?”
Jennifer’s face went pale with rage. “What did you just say? How could I ever betray Donald?”
Cheryl retorted, “Then how could you accuse my
dad?”
Jennifer said, “Based on your mother’s test results, if your father wasn’t carrying the virus, there’s simply no way she could have contracted two high–risk strains.”
Cheryl snapped, “So that proves it came from my dad? They have been married for over twenty years. Donald and I know exactly what kind of people they are. And you, a newlywed daughter–in–law, really think you know them better than us?”
Jennifer clenched her fists. “You-”
Suddenly, a familiar voice rang out from outside the door.
Cheryl turned around and saw Donald. She instantly rushed to his side with grievance.
Cheryl clung to Donald’s arm and sobbed, “Donald, your wife is nothing but a spoiler. She insisted that Dad cheated. She just wants to tear our family apart.”
Cheryl cried very sadly, and Donald tried to comfort her.
