Derek’s voice cut through the room like tee, freezing Bradley mid–motion. The anger coming from the Alpha was so intense I could practically feel radiating through the air.
Bradley’s fingers instantly dropped from my shoulders, and he stepped back, his face going palle. “Alpha, I was just—”
“Get out.” Two simple words, spoken so calmly they were tenifying.
Bradley hesitated for a split second–just long enough for Derek’s eyes to flash that dangerous gold again, Without another word, my ex–boyfriend bolted
in the room, not even looking back
The door slammed shut behind him, leaving me alone with the Alpha of the Darkwood Pack. The silence felt suffocating. My heart was pounding so hard I thought it might burst out of my chest.
Derek stood by the doorway, his tall frame half–lit by the moonlight streaming through the windows. He looked absolutely deadly.
Oh god, I’m going to die. He’s going to kill me right here.
Then he finally moved, slowly and deliberately. I backed up until my butt hit the edge of his desk. I was trapped.
“You’ve caused quite a scene,” he said, his voice weirdly quiet. “Care to explain?”
I tried to speak, but nothing came out. My throat was completely dry.
Say something, idiot Say SOMETHING.
Derek’s eyes narrowed. “Nothing to say?”
“I didn’t mean to I finally managed to squeak out..
“You didn’t mean to?” He repeated, his voice getting that dangerous edge. “You didn’t mean to walk into my binding ceremony and publicly claim to be my Soul Bond in front of representatives from every major Pack in the region?”
When he put it like that, it sounded a million times worse.
My wolf,” I whispered, trying to find the words to explain. “She recognized you. I couldn’t control it.
Derek irughed–a cold sound that made me flinch. “The day after you discover my brother’s betrayal, your wolf suddenly decides I’m your destined mate. Is this really not intentional?”
Ho words hat exactly where it hurt. They were almost identical to what Bradley had said. Tears started to well up.
You think I planned this?” I asked, my voice shaking. “You think I want to be tied to someone who clearly bates my guts!”
He raised an eyebrow and leaned closer.
muving closer, “is that you’re a naive girl who doesn’t understand the damage she’s done.
Do you have any idea what I should do to you right now? he asked, his face inches from mine. “The traditional punishment for falsely claiming a Soul Bond with the Alpha!!
711 you re going to kill use, just do it,” I whispered, suprising myself with how calm I sounded. ‘It would be better than living with that shame amway.”
His fingers tightened slightly around my throat, and for a second, I honestly thought this was it. That he was going to end my life right there in his fancy
“You’re lucky you’re my Enforcer’s sister,” he said finally. “Get out of my sight.”
