Chapter 199

Erin’s POV

1 straightened in his lap, careful not to distract him too much from driving. Mate, can we go to a place I know?I asked, suddenly eager. It’s near Silvermoon Academy.

Derek glanced down at me, his expression softening at my enthusiasm. Alright,he agreed, changing direction to follow my instructions.

Twenty minutes later, Derek pulled up outside a small, cozylooking restaurant with warm yellow lights glowing from its windows. He frowned as he parked the car, looking skeptically at the modest establishment.

You’re sure this is the place?he asked, clearly surprised by my choice.

Yes,” I nodded happily, already reaching for the door handle.

I quickly checked my appearance in the side mirror, straightening my dress and running my fingers through my hair to tame it. My cheeks were still flushed, and I could feel Derek’s eyes on me, watching my every movement.

Excitement bubbled within me as I stepped out of the car and hurried around to open Derek’s door. I’m excited,I told him with a bright smile, offering my hand to help him out a gesture that seemed to amuse him, though he accepted it.

Inside, the restaurant was exactly as I remembered small but charming, with plants and flowers decorating every corner and a lively atmosphere that immediately lifted my spirits. I led Derek through the tables, my arm linked with his as if I’d been doing it my whole life.

This way,I said, guiding him to a table by the window my favorite spot. Please sit, Alpha,I said, pulling out the chair for him with a small smile. Today, I’m treating you.

Derek raised an eyebrow but sat down, his imposing presence seeming out of place in the humble restaurant. Order whatever you like,he said, gesturing to the menu.

As I studied the menu, I noticed a young waitress approaching our table, her eyes repeatedly darting toward Derek. She was pretty, with blonde hair pulled into a neat ponytail, and couldn’t have been much older than me.

May I take your order?she asked, her voice slightly higher than necessary as she smiled at Derek.

I frowned, watching as her eyes lingered on him a moment too long. Excuse me?I said sharply, drawing her attention back to me. Why are you staring at him?

The waitress blushed, her eyes widening at my directness. II wasn’t-

I know my wolf is handsome,I said with a dismissive sniff, but please focus on your job.

Derek’s lips twitched with amusement as the flustered waitress took our order and hurried away. I felt a surge of possessiveness that surprised even me. I’d never been the jealous type before, but something about Derek brought out this protective instinct in me.

Several days later, I sat across from Amy in the Silvermoon Academy cafeteria, picking at my lunch as I shared my exciting news.

So, what are your plans for the weekend?Amy asked, taking a bite of her sandwich.

I couldn’t contain my smile. I’m going to the other pack with the Alpha.

Amy nearly choked on her food. What?she exclaimed, her eyes wide with shock. You’re going away with Derek Stone? Like, on a trip together?

It’s for pack business, I explained, lowering my voice so nearby students wouldn’t hear. Beta Tom called my mother to ask permission. He explained it was for business purposes and that the Pack Alpha would be there to ensure my safety.

I didn’t mention that Derek had specifically warned me not to tell my mother or anyone else about our soul bond connection. That was still our secret, though I had told Amy anyway.

Oh my God, Erin,Amy whispered excitedly, leaning across the table. This is like a romantic getaway!

I blushed, shaking my head. It’s not like that. It’s pack business.

But Amy wasn’t convinced. Pack business that requires an Omega student to attend? Come on, Erin. He wants you there because you’re his

soul bond.

I bit my lip, worried about the truth in her words. What if I gave in to Derek’s advances? Would his interest in me change once he got what he wanted?

He’s your soul bond,Amy said softly, seeing my concern. You can trust him.She paused, her expression turning more serious. But be careful when you talk to other Alphas. Derek seemspossessive of you.

I nodded, remembering how Derek had reacted to Bradley at Darkwood Estate. I’ve seen him jealous a few times,I admitted. My wolf is really possessive.

Remember what happened with Professor Wlison’s study group?Amy asked with a knowing smile.

I did remember. When Professor Wlison had assigned Bradley and me to the same study group, Derek had intervened later. He had ordered the professor to give our group full marks and dissolve it. The professor had complied without question it was, after all, an order from the Pack Alpha.

At the time, I hadn’t understood why Derek had done that. Now it made perfect sense

very different reasons.

both he and Bradley had been interested in me, though

Yes, I’ve seen him jealous,I confirmed with a small smile. My wolf is really possessive.

The conversation shifted as Amy mentioned that Jack wouldn’t be on campus today due to some family matter. I confirmed that I would be leaving that evening, and soon after, we parted ways as our lunch break ended.

That afternoon, I returned home to find my mother preparing food in the kitchen. We spent the day together, and I tried to enjoy these precious moments with her, knowing I would be leaving for the weekend.

In the evening, as I packed my suitcase, my mother came to my room with a concerned expression.

Be careful, Erin, she said, sitting on the edge of my bed. Stay close to the Pack Alpha when you’re there. His away from you.

I will, Mom,I promised, zipping up my suitcase. Don’t worry about me.

esence will keep other wolves

And make sure you take your phone charger, she added, her motherly concern showing through. Call me when

you arrive.
