Chapter 231
I recognized Alex’s voice immediately, his tone sharp with irritation. Glancing back at the conference room door, I lowered my voice.
Im in a meeting right now. I can’t talk.”
meeting? Alex scoffed. What kind of meeting?”
“A business meeting. I replied, trying to keep my voice down. With the Pack Alpha and other wolf pack leaders. I really shouldn’t be on the phone
There was a brief silence on the other end. ‘I need to see you tonight.”
His abrupt demand caught me off guard. “Tonight? Why?”
I need your help.”
“My help?” I frowned, confused. “If you need to schedule a meeting with the Pack–Alpha-”
“No,” Alex cut me off firmly. “I don’t need any business appointment. I need you to help me with something.”
I sighed, glancing nervously at the conference room door again. “Listen, I’m just a secretary. I can’t convince the Pack Alpha to give you any deals.”
“I know that.” His voice softened slightly. “Just meet me. You said you would help me, so I’m asking.”
I bit my lip, remembering how Alex had helped me that night at the club when I was overwhelmed by unwanted attention. I did owe him a
favor.
“Fine, I’ll see you tonight.”
‘Good. I’ll text you the address. Without waiting for my response, he hung up.
I stared at my phone for a moment, wondering what I’d just agreed to. With a deep breath, I tucked my phone away and quietly slipped back into the conference room.
All eyes turned to me as I entered, but I kept my head down and quickly made my way back to my seat. Derek gave me a brief glance but said nothing, continuing with the meeting as if there had been no interruption. I couldn’t help but notice how his jaw tightened slightly as I sat down, the muscle there flexing under his skin. My eyes lingered on his profile longer than necessary before I forced myself to look away.
The Verdant Forest Pack Alpha was speaking enthusiastically about a new development project. “…which is why we believe this partnership would be beneficial to both our packs. What do you think, Alpha Stone?”
Derek nodded thoughtfully before turning to the Thunder Pack Alpha. “And what about you? Do you have similar plans?”
The Thunder Pack Alpha straightened in his seat. “Not as extensive as Verdant Forest’s, but I can assure you, we won’t disappoint you.”
I watched as Derek’s interest seemed to pique at the mention of Thunder Pack’s project, but there was a hesitation in his expression that I recognized from previous meetings. Thunder Pack had ambitious ideas but lacked the financial backing to execute them fully.
Before I could stop myself, I spoke up. “What if we split the investment between both packs?”
Chapter 231
The Team fell silent, all eyes inning to me in spise. I felt my heartbeat quicken as Derek’s intense gaze locked with mine,
“We could request a smaller proin margin from Verdant Forest Pack, I continued, my confidence growing despite the shocked stares. And perhaps in the future, Thunder Company could become one of the top three companies. We could help them expand their business tefiitory. 1 believe we could negotiate a contract where, if they succeed, they must increase our profit share,”
The financial director. Thomas, cleared his throat loudly, clearly trying to shut me down. Whispers erupted around the table, and I immediately
regretted speaking out of tuth.
Derek raised his hand, and the room fell silent again. “Are you suggesting, he asked, his voice measured, “that we invest in both companies?
I swallowed hard, the weight of his stare making my skin tingle. “It’s just a suggestion, Alpha. But yes. If we help Thunder Pack now and secure
higher profit percentage in our contract, we could potentially benefit more in the long run while also strengthening our alliance with both packs.
I lowered my head, feeling I’d said too much. The silence stretched for what felt like an eternity.
“She makes a valid point,” Derek finally said, his tone matter–of–fact. “I’ll split the investment between both companies.”
Thomas started to protest, but Derek silenced him with a look. I kept my head down, hardly believing that Derek had not only listened to my suggestion but actually agreed with it.
“That concludes our meeting for today,” Derek announced. “I’ve arranged lunch for everyone.”
As the room began to clear, the Thunder Pack Alpha approached Derek. “Thank you for this opportunity, Alpha Stone.”
Derek’s response surprised me. “Thank her,” he said, nodding in my direction.
The Thunder Pack Alpha turned to me, his expression a mixture of surprise and gratitude. “Thank you, Miss Blackwood. Tell me what you want
in return.”
1 shook my head quickly. “I don’t need anything.”
The Alpha looked skeptical but nodded respectfully before following the others out of the room.
When I arrived at Derek’s office with his lunch, I found the table already set with food for two. My stomach fluttered nervously as I closed the
door behind me.
*Come, have lunch with me,” Derek said, gesturing to the chair across from him.
1 hesitated, still a bit stunned by what had happened in the meeting. As I began arranging his meal, I could feel his eyes on me, tracking my movements. The room suddenly felt warmer.
“Who called you during the meeting?” he asked, his voice low and direct.
I froze, unsure how to answer. Should I tell him about Alex? “Alpha, it was-”
Before I could finish, my phone rang again. I glanced at the screen–Aaron. Derek nodded, giving me permission to answer.
“Hey, Aaron,” I said, relieved by the timely interruption.
