Chapter 5
The crowd didn’t catch the deeper meaning behind Hazel’s words and seemed disappointed.
“That’s hardly a secret! Throwing things away? Come on!”
“We’ll let you off the hook this time, but next round you can’t be this evasive!”
She nodded without explanation.
But unfortunately, Hazel lost again in the next round.
The room immediately erupted with excitement.
“Hazel, you can’t get away that easily this time!”
“Let’s think of something challenging…”
“I know! Tell us–Julian or Maverick? Who will you
choose as your boyfriend?”
The question sent a ripple of anticipation through the room as everyone leaned forward eagerly.
Julian nervously took several sips of water, while Maverick’s fist clenched tightly, neither relaxing for a moment.
Hazel glanced at them, somewhat surprised that they still cared about her answer despite being obsessed with Rose.
She let out a cold laugh: “Both of them…”
“Ahh!”
Rose suddenly shrieked before Hazel could finish.
Everyone turned to see Rose had “accidentally” spilled wine on herself. The liquid immediately soaked through her white dress, clinging to her skin and revealing the outline of her undergarments.
-Julian and Maverick’s expressions changed instantly. One hurriedly pulled his jacket tighter around her, while the other
quickly cleared a path to lead her away to change clothes.
The game was abruptly interrupted.
With the center of attention gone, people lost interest in continuing. Some even whispered about leaving early.
The class president quickly intervened: “Don’t go yet! Our teacher bought fireworks for us to set off by the river–a celebration of our new beginnings!”
Hearing this, those who had been considering leaving fell silent.
After quite a while, Rose finally returned, escorted by Julian and Maverick.
She was now wearing a multi–layered pink princess dress–a gift from Julian.

And on her feet were diamond studded crystal shoes clearly from Maverick that were literally priceless
Her dazzling entrance made her look like a pampered princess.
Classmates whispered among themselves, openly admiring her expensive outfit.
Everyone knew that both the dress and shoes were Chanel’s newest haute couture pieces, Only Hazel gave the scene a cursory glance before losing interest.
The group noisily made their way to the fireworks display,
Brilliant fireworks blossomed against the dark sky as everyone made silent wishes, Only Rose shouted toward the river: “1 hope Julian and Maverick’s wishes come true!”
Julian’s typically aloof eyes softened visibly at her words.
Maverick grinned widely, affectionately ruffling her hair. “You’re such a goofball. Who makes wishes for someone else?”
Rose turned to them with a playful pout. “Because you two are the most–important people in my world!”
Both boys chuckled and responded in unison: “You’re important to us too.”
Hazel felt the air around her grow sickeningly sweet and wanted nothing more than to escape their vicinity. So she moved to a quiet corner to watch the fireworks alone.
Rose noticed and immediately tugged at Julian and Maverick’s sleeves. “Hazel seems upset–she’s not even lighting any fireworks. Let’s go cheer her up! I’m not mad about last time, so you shouldn’t be either.”
