Sean spat onto the ground. 

‘Fuck! Just you wait. One of these days, I’ll put both brothers in the ground!” 

Ronald opened the car door for Sean. “Boss, where are we going next? Home?” 

“No. To the bar.‘ 

‘Yes, Boss.‘ 

Ronald drove Sean to his usual haunt–Skinny’s Lounge 

Sean ordered several girls off the menu. 

Before they came in, he spiked the drinks. 

The scantily clad ladies, already randy, grew positively slutty once they downed the wine. 

They started undressing and dry–humping their guest. 

Sean pulled one down on the sofa and started making out 

Afterwards, he dismissed the girls and lit up a cigarette. Then be 

up and went in search of a restroom 

There was one in the private room, but the floor was str

When he came out after using the facilities, Sean stopped short at the sight of a familiar figure. 

He looked again to make sure it was whom he thought it was.

Which meant it was Austyn who got her suspended. 

Kayleigh called him. 

It was his assistant who answered the phone. 

Kai pretended not to understand what she was talking about and gave her the runaround. 

He said Austyn would call her back, but Austyn never did. 

Kayleigh understood this was her punishment. 

Austyn was punishing her for hurting the Hewitt woman. 

But she still held out hope. 

Austyn was angry with her right now, but he couldn’t stay mad at her forever. 

She just had to tough it out till his anger subsided. 

But it was harder than she’d thought 

The investor who claimed to be a big fan of hers was currently rubbing her butt and eyeing her cleavage. Kayleigh clenched her jaw and forced out a smile. 

If only Austyn were here…

She whirled around when she heard a man’s voice behind her. 

Her face fell when she saw it wasn’t whom she hoped it would be.

More than one member of her party recognised the vice president of Revency. 

The lascivious investor abandoned Kayleigh and went up to Sean, hand outstretched. ‘Mr Santoro, what a pleasure!‘ 

Sean inclined his head at the investor. 

He shook the man’s hand before saying with a smile, ‘I hope I’m not intruding. I just need to speak with Miss Woods for a moment. Would you mind?” 

‘Not at all. Please, go ahead.‘ The investor even nudged Kayleigh towards Sean. 

Sean threw a hand over Kayleigh’s shoulders and half–carried her away. 

The two C–list actresses from MS watched them with ill–concealed jealousy. 

The diva was so lucky. 

She had the backing of the M Group. 

And now she was hooking up with the second most powerful man at Revency. 

Kayleigh would have rebuked them if she knew what they were thinking 

She wasn’t hooking up with Sean 

The man was forcibly dragging her away. 

She was trembling uncontrollably. 

Kayleigh had not forgotten her last encounter with the man at Liam’s house. 

His murderous glare was seared into her memory. 

If Liam hadn’t been there, Kayleigh was sure the man would have taken her life. 

The actress‘ heart was filled with dread and regret.

‘Could you pull over here, please?” 

Kira said when they were about one km away from the villa. 

Liam’s candy–red Bentley was too distinctive. 

Elsie was going to have questions if she saw Kira get out of a stranger’s car. 

Charles complied. 

He got out and opened the passenger side door. 

“Thank you‘ 

‘Miss Hewitt.‘ 

‘Yes? 

‘I grew up with Young Master Liam,‘ Charles said. 

Kira hid her surprise. 

Charles Wadsworth looked at least a decade older than Liam. 

But she said nothing and waited for him to continue. 

‘Young Master didn’t have a happy childhood. Nor did he receive much affection, despite being the second son of the powerful McCarthy family. Do you know why?”

‘Why?‘ she asked in spite of herself. 

‘Young Master took his last name from his mother. Ms Cane didn’t find out she was a mistress until Young Master turned ten years old. The discovery shocked and depressed her. She just wasted away after that. She passed away when Young Master was twenty.‘ 

Kira listened, open–mouthed. 

When she learned Austyn and Liam were half brothers, she’d thought it was because their father had two marriages. 

If Liam’s mother was a mistress, that would mean Liam was born out of wedlock. 

He was a..bastard child. 

Kira would have never guessed it, given how confident Liam always appeared. 

“Young Master 

er was brought to live with the McCarthy family when he was just a little boy. Ms Cane was bedbound and didn’t have the energy to care for him or protect him. Young Master grew up in a home without love. He hates the McCarthy name with a passion Including Young Master Austyn.” 

Kira shuffled her feet. 

She felt uncomfortable listening to Liam’s dark and troubled past. 

Her father taught her to be compassionate. 

That was why her heart went out to Liam once she heard his story. 

But she was supposed to hate him for the way he took advantage of her trust. 

The two conflicting emotions played tug of war in her heart. 

She was starting to wish she had not asked “why.” 

‘Miss Hewitt, I’m not a blabbermouth,” Charles said. ‘I’m only telling you this so you’ll understand–Young Master’s feelings for you are real. He may look like a Casanova, playing fast and loose with women’s emotions. I’ll admit, he has sown his share of wild oats. But he is serious about you‘ 

Kira gave Charles a wry smile. ‘Mr Wadsworth, I’m immensely grateful for Liam’s help earlier. But you can’t expect me to believe what you’re saying right now. He’s serious about me? Forgive me for not buying it.‘ 

Liam was lying to her right from the start. 

Once she saw through that, it was very hard for her to trust him again. 

“The man who dropped by earlier is Mr Sean Santoro,’ Charles said, ‘He’s Young Master’s partner in business. They hold equal shares in the company. Mr Santoro brings more than just money to the table. Without him, Revency would not be the success it is today. If I were Young Master, I would not choose to go against him. It wouldn’t do me any good. But… 

He fixed his eyes on Kira’s face. ‘But Young Master did. He ignored Mr Santoro’s request and asked me to drive you home. There will be consequences for Young Master, but he did not hesitate to make the call. If that doesn’t show he’s serious about you, what does? He would not give a damn if it were anybody else.” 

Kira didn’t know what to say. 

Kira’s head was still whirling after she reached the villa. 

Elsie greeted her, but she didn’t catch a word of what the housekeeper said. 

Elsie looked worried. 

Kira didn’t notice.
