A purple pillar exploded from the gothic woman as she shot towards Atticus like a torpedo. Atticus unleashed a crimson crescent slash that split the heavens.
Their collision birthed a shockwave that leveled the forest and terrain for kilometers.
Korosim and Neresa had to teleport even farther away from their initial positions to escape the blast.
As they appeared in the distance, they immediately pulled up the footage, and their eyes instantly narrowed.
"Just one strike," Korosim muttered, slightly disbelieving, and Neresa released a chuckle.
Through the screen, Iyress hovered just in front of Atticus, her hand pierced through his heart. There was a smile on her face, one of happiness. She would finally free his soul.
Just as she attempted to surround him with her aura, Atticus’s body suddenly burst into a puff of light, vanishing from her front.
The eyes of Korosim and Neresa constricted.
Iyress’s piercing scream voiced their thoughts.
"Fake!"
Korosim’s eyes exploded wide.
’He’s been tricking us!’
He rose to his feet, eyes darting around as he tried to sense any signs of ambush.
His hands blurred in front of him, forming hand signs in the air. Mana responded, and multiple small drones made from mana formed, shooting toward different directions.
Korosim filtered through the images they showed, and he found nothing.
’What’s he planning?’ He ignored Neresa, who kept asking what was going on, his thoughts spinning.
’He’s not here. Then...’ His eyes turned towards the direction of their beacon before they widened. Aside from Iyress’s beacon, it was the closest to them.
’Don’t tell me...!’
Korosim’s hands blurred in front of him, multiple hand signs forming.
"Warpath Surge."
The words rolled off his tongue, and mana flooded his body in waves, a massive pillar of blue piercing the sky. His power intensified to unimaginable heights.
"I have to warn the marshal. Go back to the beacon and support the twins!"
Korosim blasted forward just as Neresa nodded, tearing towards the beacon of the child god at supersonic speed.
...
’Looks like they found out already,’ Atticus thought calmly as he and Aric tore through the forest at high speed.
Since they had stopped chasing the general’s subordinates, both of them had let go of any restraint and blasted towards what Atticus suspected was the general’s beacon. And now, he had just felt his alternate self disappear.
’They must’ve discovered they’re fake then.’
Atticus sent a glance toward Aric, who met his eyes. No words were needed. They tore through the forest with more speed, transversing large distances with ease.
"We’re here," Atticus said.
A bright, blinding beacon came into view in the middle of a large clearing. Atticus’s gaze soon landed on two identical figures standing in front of the beacon.
They had already focused on them, having sensed their approach.
Their eyes were stern, cold. Heads bald and expressions impassive. Their military attire fitted them perfectly.
As their gazes locked onto the approaching Atticus and Aric, they exchanged a glance, and their auras exploded.
"Dibs on the god," one of them said, smiling.
