Korosim didn’t respond to Neresa’s words. Although he remained silent, even he couldn’t help but think the words true.
He landed on a tree and blasted forward once more, evading the slash that threatened to cleave him into two.
They had been luring the child god and his subordinate for a few moments already, and it didn’t seem as though he had suspected anything. They might actually be able to kill a god. Or in this case, get one killed.
Despite this fact, Korosim kept a level head. They couldn’t let their guards down.
A god was only all powerful in their world. Outside it, they were practically the same as any other, except for the incredible boost to their will given by their worlds. What it meant was simple enough: they could be killed, if done right.
Korosim narrowed his eyes at the front. The beacon was getting closer.
’Get ready to teleport. We’re almost there.’ He said. Neresa turned to look at the approaching beacon and gave a firm nod.
They both evaded multiple lethal attacks from the child god and his subordinate, making sure not to venture too far and allowing them to continue the chase.
And after a few moments, Korosim’s eyes narrowed. ’We’re here.’
His gaze landed on the figure of a gothic woman. She alone stood in front of the blinding beacon, her cold, lifeless gaze already locked onto them.
’Perfect.’ Korosim felt a surge of excitement roaring through his body.
Iyress the Drifted One was Somnera’s god, from the star Vaelthrys.
But what made Korosim happy was the fact that she was considered one of the most likely to win the Virelenna. A terrifying contender.
’Now!’ he screamed to Neresa telepathically, and almost immediately, both of them vanished as they were about to reach the beacon, crossing a distance they had never crossed since the chase began.
They appeared more than 3km away from the location, their eyes turning towards where they had come from.
"This should be enough distance," Korosim said with narrowed eyes.
They had already tested the range of a god’s perception in this foggy world using the high marshal before setting off. He had been able to peer through 800 meters.
’The child god should be lower than that... but her...’ They expected Atticus’s range to be even lower, but what they were worried about was the god of Somnera, Iyress.
Korosim suddenly made hand signs in the air, and in the next moment, a small screen made from mana formed in front of him, showing live footage of the location they had just left.
The child god and his subordinate stood across from Iyress.
"There’s no way he’ll be able to survive this," Neresa said confidently. Korosim nodded. Iyress was a figure that even the high marshal was wary of.
He wasn’t sure if he would be able to win if they fought. They couldn’t imagine the child god lasting past a few exchanges.
"We should focus on gaining valuable intel from their battle, no matter how brief," Korosim said. The high marshal could use that intel to prepare for his battle with her.
Korosim’s eyes glinted. "It’s starting."
