Chapter 91: You’re the one who killed mother!
(Aria’s POV)
I watched in shock as Dominic’s fist connected with my brother’s jaw, sending James stumbling backward onto the hotel bed. The sickening sound of the impact echoed in the room.
“You’re the one who killed mother! James had shouted before the blow landed, his amber eyes wild with
desperation.
Now he lay sprawled across the rumpled sheets, one hand pressing against his rapidly swelling face. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, but the physical damage couldn’t compare to the emotional wound his words had inflicted on me.
I turned to Dominic, unable to bear another moment in this room. “Please, get me out of here.” Without hesitation, he placed a protective hand on my lower back, guiding me toward the door. I didn’t look back at my brother. For all I knew, this might be the last time I’d ever see him, and I couldn’t bring myself to
care.
In the hotel corridor, my legs nearly gave out. Dominic’s strong arm wrapped around my waist, supporting me as we walked to the elevator. His powerful Alpha scent surrounded me like a shield, but even that couldn’t stop the tremors wracking my body.
mother “She killed my mother,” I whispered as the elevator doors closed. “Claire deliberately killed my Dominic’s jaw tightened, his silver–gray eyes darkening with anger. “We’ll make her pay for this, Aria. I promise
you.
The elevator descended smoothly, but my thoughts were in chaos. A terrible clarity was forming in my mind- a puzzle with all its pieces finally falling into place.
In the car, I stared unseeing out the window as Dominic drove. The weight of understanding crushed down on me. Claire’s scheme had been more elaborate than we’d imagined.
“She orchestrated everything,” I said, breaking the silence. “The fake affair with Alexander, the marking ceremony announcement–all of it designed to push me away so she could take my place.”
“And your mother was collateral damage,” Dominic added grimly, his knuckles white on the steering wheel.
I nodded, wrapping my arms around my swollen belly. My poor mother, who had only wanted to see me happy before she died. Instead, she’d gone to her grave believing I was being cruelly betrayed, unaware that it was all part of Claire’s vicious plan.
“But why go through all this trouble?” I wondered aloud. “Why not just wait until Alexander and I divorced naturally?”
Dominic’s mobile phone rang before he could answer. He glanced at the screen, then put it on speaker. “Nathan, you’re on speaker with Aria.”
*I’ve reviewed the surveillance footage,” Dr. Lewis’s voice came through clearly. “Claire definitely visited Emily Summers. She spent exactly eight minutes in her room,”

My heart clenched painfully. What did she do to my mother?
“Nothing physical, Dr. Lewis answered. “But I spoke with the nurse who was on duty that day. She
Claire asking detailed questions about your mother’s condition and specifically inquiring about her medical
restrictions.”
“What kind of restrictions?” Dominic asked, though I already knew the answer.
“The nurse told Claire that any significant emotional shock could potentially be fatal given Emily’s weakened heart condition,” Dr. Lewis confirmed. “Claire seemed particularly interested in this information.”
I felt the blood drain from my face. Claire hadn’t just stumbled into causing my mother’s death–she’d researched exactly how to do it.
“She also asked about Aria’s visiting schedule,” Dr. Lewis continued. “Almost as if-
Dominic abruptly ended the call, cutting Dr. Lewis off mid–sentence. His expression was thunderous, barely contained rage radiating from him..
“It’s enough,” he said, his voice deadly calm. “We have confirmation of her malicious intent.”
I felt bile rise in my throat. The deliberate, calculated cruelty of it all made me physically ill. My wolf was pacing anxiously beneath my skin, distressed by both the revelations and my physical reaction to them.
“Pull over,” I managed to gasp.
Dominic immediately swerved to the side of the road. I barely got the door open before emptying my stomach onto the pavement. Shame washed over me at this display of weakness, but Dominic showed no disgust. Instead, he handed me a bottle of water from the glove compartment, his touch gentle as he brushed my hair back from my face..
After rinsing my mouth, I leaned back against the seat, exhausted. Dominic waited patiently, one hand resting protectively on my knee.
“What do you want to do now, Aria?” he asked quietly.
I stared straight ahead, my mind racing through possibilities. In ten days, Claire and Alexander would have their marking ceremony–just ten days before my mate bond severance would be finalized. The timing was no coincidence; Claire wanted to ensure I would feel the severing of my mate bond amplified by Alexander marking another.
“I want her to pay,” I said slowly. “I want them both to know exactly what they’ve done.”
“The marking ceremony,” Dominic said, reading my thoughts. “You want to confront them at the marking
ceremony.”
I nodded, a cold determination replacing my grief. “You received an invitation, didn’t you?”
“I did,” he confirmed, a hint of surprise in his voice. “Did Alexander invite you as well?”
“No,” I replied with a bitter laugh. “But Claire did. A final twist of the knife, I suppose.”
Dominic’s lips curved into a predatory smile that matched my mood perfectly. “Then we’ll attend. And we’ll wait until the perfect moment,
“Let them have their celebration,” I agreed, my voice steadying with resolve. “Let them think they’ve won.” Ten days. I could wait ten more days to deliver the devastating truth that would shatter their world.

Chapter 91. You’re the one
The next week passed in a blur of preparations and prenatal appointments. Today, I was scheduled for another checkup at Silvercrest Hospital. Olivia accompanied me, her constant chatter about nursery colors providing a welcome distraction.
“I still think moon silver and pale blue would be perfect,” she insisted as we entered the hospital lobby. “It’s gender–neutral but still elegant.”
