After Victoria left, I turned to Olivia with wide eyes. Something about Victoria’s words didn’t sit right with me.

“Did you hear what she said?” I whispered “About the bracelet? Dominic specifically asked Eleanor for it to give to me.”

Olivia nodded, popping another snack into her mouth. “Why do you seem so surprised? It fits with your whole pretend relationship scenario, doesn’t it?”

I frowned, thinking back to my visit to the Blackwood family compound. “Remember that suspicious ‘moonberry wine‘ I told you about? The one Eleanor made me drink during my visit?”

“The special tea that supposedly only works if there’s genuine affection?” Olivia’s eyes widened with

“Exactly. I’m starting to think Victoria might be trying to push us together for some reason.

I sighed, sinking deeper into my chair. “To harm Dominic’s standing in the pack, maybe? A powerful Alpha like him shouldn’t be involved with someone like me pregnant, divorcing, from a low-ranking bloodline.”

I glanced at Olivia, then back at Dominic. After my realization about Victoria’s possible schemes, I felt reluctant to give the impression we were getting closer.

“I think I’ll stay here a bit longer with Olivia, I said carefully. “Maybe join you later?”

Something flashed in his eyes, but his expression remained neutral. “As you wish. Hunter will attend to anything you need.”

With that, he turned and left, his broad shoulders disappearing through the doorway.

“No, thank you,” I said politely. “Olivia and I just wanted to look around.”

He nodded respectfully and stepped back, though I noticed he remained within sight.

We hadn’t gone far when I noticed Dominic across the room, surrounded by a group of influential–looking wolves. His silver–gray eyes found mine immediately, as if he’d been aware of my presence the moment I entered.

With a subtle gesture, he beckoned me over.

“Great,” I muttered under my breath. “Now what?”

Olivia nudged me forward. “Go to your Alpha,” she teased. “I’ll just mingle with these wealthy pack investors on my own.”

Before I could protest, she slipped away, leaving me to face Dominic’s summons alone.
