Chapter 165: Let’s Start Over!
(Aria’s POV)
Seeing Alexander’s triumphant expression, I took a deep breath and suppressed the bitterness rising in my chest. My wolf whimpering anxiously within me as I watched him savor my distress.
Now wasn’t the time to be sentimental – I needed to steel myself and deal with Alexander before I could comfort Dominic. With a blank expression, I faced my former mate.
“You said yourself it’s suspected plagiarism,” I asserted firmly, my voice steady despite the turmoil inside. “I believe Dominic wouldn’t do such a thing. Time will prove him innocent.”
Alexander scoffed, finding my words naive. His amber eyes flashed with cruel satisfaction as he leaned back in his chair.
“Innocent? Aria, you’re more naive than I thought.” He twisted the knife deeper, his Alpha presence radiating smug superiority. “All of Dominic’s current troubles with the Northern Territory Business Council are because of you.”
The words cut deep, confirming my lingering suspicion that Dominic’s recent fatigue and late–night work sessions were connected to this investigation. Overwhelming guilt filled me for not recognizing the burden he’d been carrying alone.
“If he hadn’t been so desperate to protect you, to provide for you,” Alexander continued, his voice dripping with false concern, “he wouldn’t have made such reckless decisions.”
My hands clenched into fists at my sides. “That’s not true.”
“Isn’t it?” Alexander’s smile widened. “Face reality, Aria. Dominic will face ruin and be unable to operate his herbal remedy company in the Northern Territory, unless he yields to the charges.”
Before Alexander could finish his threatening speech, I defiantly interrupted him. My wolf bristling beneath my skin with protective fury,
“No matter how difficult it becomes, I will face it with him!”
Alexander’s gaze intensified, almost accusatory. He challenged me with his commanding Alpha voice, leaning forward with predatory intent.
“Do you really think Dominic, an Alpha King of such high standing, can endure such a fall without regretting being mated to a she–wolf like you?”
Though I knew Alexander was deliberately trying to sow discord between us, anger flared within me. I retorted with fierce determination.
“This is between my mate and me. It has nothing to do with you!”
The word ‘mate‘ seemed to momentarily stun Alexander, His amber eyes flickered with something painful, vulnerable.
He murmured, his voice carrying an odd vulnerability I’d never heard before. “Why bother struggling? Instead
of waiting for Dominic to regret claiming you, why don’t you sever your bond with him now?”

He paused, his Alpha scent shifting with desperate anticipation, “We can start over…
I reacted with a bitter, sarcastic laugh. Finding his suggestion utterly absurd, my pregnant wolf recolling at the very thought.
“Start over?” I mocked coldly, my voice dripping with disdain.
Alexander eagerly affirmed, hope flickering in his amber eyes. “Yes.”
My tone turned ice–cold as I delivered the killing blow. “Start what exactly? Even when I first thought I liked you, it was only because I mistook you for Dominic…”
Alexander’s face contorted with indignation. His wolf’s fury evident in his elevated pheromones that filled the small room.
“Are you telling me that all those years of devotion
Yevlely because of that school uniform incident?”

I confirmed it without hesitation, looking directly into his eyes with unflinching resolve. “Yes. If I had known
back then that the person who protected me wasn’t you, I wouldn’t have liked you at all!”
Knowing exactly where to wound him most deeply, I watched Alexander’s face crumble with disbelief. The
genuine.
pain in his expression was raw, 9
He desperately reached out, gripping my shoulder with Alpha strength. “I don’t believe it, Aria. I don’t believe
you don’t have feelings for me…”
I instinctively recoiled, my wolf rejecting his touch completely. “Let go of me!”
Alexander’s grip tightened as he desperately listed all the meticulous care I had shown him over the years during our mate bond. “You remembered my birthday every year, brought me late–night meals when I worked, nursed me when I was injured, chose my formal Alpha attire…”
His voice grew more desperate with each word. “You can’t tell me that meant nothing!”
I scoffed, interrupting his pathetic monologue. “Alexander, you only liked the docile puppet who obeyed your every whim. You cling to me not because you love me, but because of your possessive Alpha nature.”
My words hit their mark. “You can’t bear to see what you considered yours taken by another Alpha.”
Alexander vehemently denied this, shaking his head and leaning closer. His desperate Alpha scent
overwhelming my senses.
“No, it’s not like that. Aria, I care for you! I truly care for you…”
I instinctively turned my head away, my wolf recoiling from his proximity. “Alexander, let go of me.”
With a dark undertone, his Alpha authority finally surfacing, he refused. “I won’t. I let you go once – this time, no matter what, I won’t let you go!”
He pleaded, his voice breaking with emotion. “Aria Summers, please give me one last chance, alright? I will prove to you that I truly care for you…”
I coldly cut him off, my voice filled with revulsion. “Your so–called caring disgusts me!”
“Aria…” Alexander’s desperate words were abruptly cut short by a deep, cold voice from behind.
The voice carried unmistakable Alpha authority that made both Alexander and me freeze. ‘Alexander, take your filthy hands off my mate!”

My heart leaped with joy as I turned to see Dominic pushing through the hospital door. His powerful presence filled the space, his face thunderous with protective fury.
“Dominic!” I exclaimed, struggling free from Alexander’s grip and instinctively moving toward my true mate.
He enveloped me in his strong embrace, his cedar scent immediately calming my agitated wolf. But
Alexander seized my wrist with desperate Alpha strength.
Dominic’s silver–gray eyes hardened dangerously. He instantly delivered a forceful punch that connected with
Alexander’s jaw with a sickening c***k.
With a sharp gasp, Alexander stumbled sideways, finally releasing my wrist. Blood began to trickle from his split lip.
“Are you alright?” Dominic scanned me with intense concern, his powerful hands gentle as they checked for
injuries.
I shook my head, but a sudden surge of guilt and relief welled up. Stinging my nose and filling my eyes with tears, my pregnant wolf overwhelmed by the emotional turmoil.
Dominic tenderly cupped my face, his voice soft and doting. “Silly she–wolf, why are you crying? Haven’t I
arrived in time?”
I continued to shake my head, but tears streamed uncontrollably down my cheeks. The relief of seeing him
was overwhelming.
Dominic gently wiped them away with his thumbs, his touch infinitely tender. “There, there, no more tears.” I knew this wasn’t the time for breakdown, so I quickly wiped my eyes. I turned to look at Alexander, who was dabbing blood from his split lip with his thumb.
