Chapter 164: The Secret Dominic Has Been Hiding!
(Aria’s POV)
Having walked out of the herbal remedy company, I clutched my car keys but didn’t immédiately head down to the underground parking lot. Instead, I paced back and forth outside the company entrance like a restless wolf.
The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the pavement, but I barely noticed. My mind was focused entirely on what might be happening upstairs between Dominic and Hunter.
It was almost quitting time, yet everyone at the company remained at their posts. Through the glass windows, I could see my colleagues hunched over their desks, their faces etched with grave concern.
Their wolf scents, even from this distance, were heavy with anxiety and fear. The usual end–of–day chatter was nowhere to be found.
Although I didn’t know what had happened, I knew it must be related to Dominic’s father. The Alpha King’s iron fist had finally fallen.
I just didn’t know how much it would affect Dominic’s position in the Shadow Pack. The thought made my pregnant wolf whimper anxiously within me.
I worried about Dominic’s career and future while he constantly showed his care for me. His powerful Alpha presence was always protective, always reassuring.
He had promised he had prepared everything for this situation and nothing would go wrong. But seeing Hunter’s panicked expression, I wondered if even Dominic’s careful planning could withstand his father’s wrath.
When he finally emerged from the building, his face was composed but I could see the tension in his shoulders. Instead of discussing whatever crisis had occurred, he changed the subject.
“I’ve ordered venison steaks from the Northern Territory’s finest suppliers,” he said, his voice deliberately light. “They should be delivered to our apartment within the hour.”
The mention of food immediately lifted my spirits, my pregnancy making me easily distracted by the promise of a good meal.
Two weeks passed in a blur of intense work. After half a month of dedicated effort, the Northern Medical Consortium’s herbal remedy project was finally completed.
Now, all that remained was awaiting the client’s review and acceptance phase. The sense of accomplishment was overwhelming after such demanding work.
Given the grueling schedule we’d all endured, I granted my colleagues two days off to recuperate. The deserved rest after their dedication.
“Everyone has worked incredibly hard,” I announced to the gathered team. “Take these days to reconnect with your families and restore your energy.”
The grateful expressions on their faces made my heart warm. Traditional pack gratitude was important, and 1

wanted them to know their efforts were valued.
During this period, Dominic had become incredibly busy. His Alpha duties seemed to multiply daily, each phone call more urgent than the last.
Previously, he would
Spend his leisure time sourcing various ingredients to cook delicious meals for me. His wolf took pride in providing for his mate, carefully selecting each herb and spice.
But lately, we had mostly been eating out. Each meal was often interrupted by multiple phone calls, making it
impossible to enjoy a quiet moment together.
His phone would ring constantly business partners, pack members, territorial councils. The conversations were always tense, always urgent.
Understanding his busy schedule, I chose not to bother him with unnecessary questions. He had enough
stress without me adding to it.
I simply left him a message saying I was going to visit James at the werewolf psychiatric center and drove
myself there.
The drive through the Northern Territory was peaceful, giving me time to think about everything that had
happened in recent weeks.
After half a month of treatment, James’s condition had significantly stabilized. He was no longer prone to
violent outbursts or destructive behavior.
His wolf, which had been completely withdrawn and traumatized, was finally beginning to calm. The progress
was slow but undeniable.
I was now four months pregnant, my belly noticeably protruding though my loose winter clothes mostly concealed it. My wolf was increasingly protective of our growing pup.
The sun was bright today, streaming through the psychiatric center’s windows with unusual warmth for the season. I sat in a comfortable recliner with James, both of us basking in its healing rays.
James seemed more peaceful than I’d seen him/in months. His breathing was steady, his wolf’s scent no
longer carrying the sharp edge of panic.
“The sunlight feels good,” I murmured, adjusting my position to better accommodate my growing belly.
James nodded slowly, his eyes still distant but not as vacant as before. “Warm,” he said simply.
Just as I was drifting off to sleep, lulled by the comfortable warmth, I heard someone open the door and enter. The sound was quiet, measured.
Initially, I thought it was a werewolf medical attendant and paid no mind. They often checked on James throughout the day.

But then a familiar Alpha scent wafted toward me strong, commanding, and distinctly threatening. My pregnant wolf immediately went on high alert.
I jolted awake, almost instinctively turning my head to look. The sight that greeted me made my ood run
cold.
“Alexander?” I immediately rose from the recliner, my face filled with disbelief as I stared at my former mate. He stood in the doorway with that familiar arrogant posture, his amber eyes gleaming with something that

made my skin crawl.
“Why are you here?” The question came out sharper than I intended, my wolf bristling with protective instincts.
Alexander’s smile was cold and calculating. “I came to see how James is doing. And to have a little chat with you.”
Before i could respond, he moved with quick Alpha reflexes toward the side table where I’d placed my phone.
“What are you-” I started, but he was already reaching for it.
“Alexander, you want my phone?” He chuckled, his amber eyes gleaming with malicious satisfaction.
Then, without warning, he directly tossed my mobile phone into the fish tank nearby. The device hit the water with a splash, immediately going dark.
“Alexander! What are you doing!” I watched helplessly as the phone screen went blank, then turned to glare at him.
My wolf was bristling with anger, every instinct screaming at me to protect myself and my unborn pup.
Alexander merely curved his lips into a slight smile, then leisurely sat on the sofa. He looked up at me with that familiar arrogant Alpha demeanor I’d grown to hate.
“How is Dominic doing? Have his troubles been resolved?”
I frowned, my pregnant wolf whimpering anxiously. “What troubles?”
Alexander froze for a moment, his expression shifting to one of cruel amusement. Then he suddenly laughed.
the sound harsh and mocking.
“Looks like he hasn’t told you!”
The way he said it made my stomach clench with dread. Whatever he was about to reveal, I knew it would be
devastating.
“Half a month ago, someone reported that his herbal remedy company was suspected of using counterfeit ingredients,” Alexander continued, his voice dripping with false concern.
