Chapter 123: Is it from that time that I already fell for you….
(Aria’s POV)
“What’s wrong with you?” Alexander’s voice carried an irritating laughter through my mobile phone. “Who upset you this early in the morning?”
I sneered, my wolf bristling with anger beneath my skin.
“Alexander, stop pretending. Was my brother taken by you?”
Alexander chuckled, the sound making my stomach churn with disgust.
“How can you say ‘taken‘? Clearly, someone wanted to harm your brother, and I just happened to save him in
time.”
His voice carried that familiar arrogant tone that I had grown to hate.
“If you don’t believe me, you can ask James yourself…”
“You-“I began furiously, but before I could finish my accusation, my brother’s voice suddenly came through
the phone.
“Aria, Aria… it’s me…”
I couldn’t help but be stunned by the unexpected sound of James’s voice.
“James?! Are you okay? Where are you now? Alexander didn’t make things difficult for you, did he?”
My questions tumbled out in a rush, my maternal instincts flaring despite everything.
“I’m fine…” James’s voice paused slightly, and I could hear the uncertainty in his tone.
“It was… it was Alexander who saved me from those wolves.”
My face was full of disbelief. The words felt like a betrayal.
“James, you…” I started, but before I could finish expressing my shock, the phone had already been handed
back to Alexander.
“See? Didn’t I tell you?” Alexander’s voice was smug with satisfaction.
I couldn’t help but grit my teeth, knowing that James must have been coerced by Alexander. My brother had no choice but to say whatever Alexander wanted him to say.
“What exactly do you want from me?” I demanded, my voice sharp with frustration.
“Nothing much,” Alexander replied with deceptive casualness. “I just want you to accompany me to a place.”
His Alpha command was subtle but unmistakably present in his tone.
My lips pressed together tightly. “Where?”
“Silverpine High School entrance. I’ll wait for you there.”
Silverpine High School? I couldn’t help but frown, genuinely unable to understand why Alexander would
arrange to meet me at our old school.

The location choice seemed both random and deliberately calculated.
However, James’s safety was at stake, and I couldn’t treat this situation lightly.
“Fine,” I said reluctantly. “I’ll be there.”
Alexander’s voice immediately softened, carrying a hint of warmth I hadn’t heard from him in years.
“See you later then, Aria.”
After I hung up the phone, Aunt Sophia immediately rushed toward me with worried eyes.
“How is it? Is James okay? What did Alexander say?”
Fearing that my aunt would panic completely, I forced myself to sound reassuring.
“Don’t worry, James is fine. Alexander picked him up from the hospital. I’ll go get him back soon.”
My aunt remained somewhat skeptical, her brow furrowed with concern.
“Are you sure he’s really okay? This whole situation sounds very strange.”
“Really,” I insisted, though my own confidence was shaking.
Aunt Sophia pursed her lips, having probably overheard parts of my conversation with Alexander.
“Aria, talk to Alexander properly when you see him,” she advised earnestly. “After all, you were mates once.
There’s nothing that can’t be resolved between former partners.”
Her voice took on that familiar lecturing tone.
“Besides, Alexander has admitted his mistakes. You could give him one last chance to make things right.”
“Aunt Sophia…” I directly interrupted her well–meaning but misguided advice.
“I’ll handle this situation myself.”
“You, oh you, with that stubborn personality of yours…” my aunt grumbled as she turned away.
“How can she–wolves who have severed their mate bonds these days expect to live good lives on their own? How can anyone survive in pack territory without a strong Alpha’s protection?”
Her traditional views made my wolf want to howl in frustration.
After quickly washing up, I changed into practical clothes and prepared to leave.
However, as soon as I pushed open the door of my apartment at Moon Valley Residences, I saw the opposite door opening simultaneously.
“Up so early?” Dominic’s familiar voice made me freeze.
He chuckled lightly, his eyes warm as they met mine. His powerful Alpha scent immediately enveloped me
with its comforting presence.
“So eager to go to that place with me?”
I was startled at first, then remembered with crushing guilt that I had agreed with Dominic last night. I had promised to accompany him somewhere as repayment for his help finding the pack servant.
“Dominic, I’m really sorry,” I began apologetically. “I have an urgent matter to handle. I probably can’t accompany you to that place today.”

Dominic’s smile faded alightly, his expression shifting to one of genuine concern.
What urgent matter?” he asked, his voice gentle but probing.
I pursed my lips, knowing that if I told him the truth about Alexander’s manipulation, he would immediately rush to confront him.
Right now, I just wanted to resolve this situation quietly, without causing any further complications or Involving more people in this mess.
Seeing that I remained silent, Dominic didn’t press the issue further.
Instead, he simply raised his hand and gently ruffled my hair with unexpected tenderness.
“It’s okay. We can go another day when you’re free.”
I immediately nodded, relief flooding through me at his understanding.
“Thank you, Dominic. I really appreciate your patience. I’ll be leaving now.”
“Shall I drive you there?” he offered, his protective instincts clearly activated.
“No need. I’ll drive myself,” I declined quickly.
“Then drive carefully on the road,” he said with genuine concern.
“I will.”
The elevator arrived with a soft ding, and I stepped inside.
However, just as the elevator doors slowly closed, I vaguely heard my aunt and Dominic beginning to talk in
the hallway.
By the time I wanted to hear what they were saying, the elevator had already descended, and their voices faded completely.
I could only hope that my aunt wouldn’t say anything too embarrassing about my situation.
Soon, I drove through the familiar streets toward Silverpine High School.
Since it was the weekend, the school gate was firmly closed. Only a black luxury SUV with tinted windows was parked by the roadside.
As if sensing my car’s approach through his heightened Alpha senses, the door of the vehicle opened. Alexander stepped out with fluid grace, his amber eyes immediately finding mine through my windshield.
“Aria…” he called out as I parked and exited my car.
“Where’s James?” I said coldly, cutting straight to the point.
I had no intention of engaging in small talk or pleasantries.
“Don’t worry. You’ll see your brother in just a moment,” Alexander replied with maddening calm.
He pointed toward the school building behind him, his gesture almost casual.
“Are you familiar with this place?”
I instinctively looked up and scanned the familiar campus grounds.
Memories from the past flashed before my eyes like scenes from an cid movie. Every brick and tile, every

blade of grass here was so familiar to me.
The Alpha who had dominated most of my youthful memories was standing right in front of me now.
However, everything had changed so drastically since those innocent days.
I had a momentary trance, lost in the bittersweet nostalgia.
When I came back to my senses, I found Alexander looking at me intently. His amber eyes were filled with an emotion I couldn’t quite interpret.
“Let’s go. Would you like to go in and take a look around?” Alexander asked softly.
He subconsciously reached out to take my hand, his Alpha warmth radiating toward me in waves.
I directly dodged his touch, pulling my hand away sharply.
“Alexander, what exactly do you want from me? Stop playing these games.”
“Just consider it fulfilling my wish to revisit an old place,” Alexander said with unexpected gravity.
“After we’ve walked around and talked, you’ll naturally see your brother safe and sound.”
I was still somewhat hesitant, my instincts warning me about his true motives.
“You’re not lying to me about James being okay?”
Alexander smiled and raised one finger solemnly.
“Shall I make a sacred vow then? Would that convince you?”
pursed my lips in deliberation.
Though I wasn’t particularly willing to spend time alone with Alexander, if I accompanied him for this nostalgic walk, James would remain safe.
Besides, this was a school campus, so I assumed Alexander wouldn’t dare act recklessly in such a public
place.
