Chapter 107: Doubts About the Paternity Test
Chapter 107: Doubts About the Paternity Test
(Aria’s POV)
My heart was about to jump out of my chest, but I didn’t dare show anything strange on my face. I frowned and said firmly, “Alexander, what nonsense are you talking about?”
“Isn’t it?” Alexander shot back, his amber eyes narrowing with suspicion. “He said it clearly before. He brought you here today just to watch a good show. Now that the show is over, you want to leave?”
The accusation hung in the air like a blade. I could feel the tension crackling between the three of us as Alexander’s gaze shifted between Dominic and me.
Dominic sneered, putting his hands in his pockets as he slowly approached Alexander. The sound of his black leather shoes against the polished floor created a heavy, oppressive feeling that made my wolf whimper anxiously within me.
Alexander pursed his lips with a sullen expression, but looked at Dominic fearlessly. His amber eyes had turned terrifying in their intensity.
There was a hint of playfulness in Dominic’s silver–gray eyes as he spoke.
“What if it’s me?” he asked with casual indifference. “What if it’s not me?”
He paused, letting the question hang in the air before continuing.
“Shouldn’t you verify the truth of this matter? Why?” His voice dropped to a dangerous whisper. “Are you so confident in your intended mate? Are you so sure that she is loyal to you?”
Alexander’s face changed slightly, and I could see the veins on his forehead beginning to pop up. His wolf’s scent spiked with barely contained rage.
I realized with chilling clarity that this kind of thing couldn’t stand up to investigation. It wouldn’t be difficult to find out whether Claire and Richard were having an affair, but the most challenging aspect wasn’t proving
the truth.
Today’s incident was bound to cause a devastating blow to the Storm Pack’s reputation. Whether the recording was authentic or not no longer mattered, because the Reed family had already lost its honor in the eyes of the werewolf community.
“Alpha Blackwood, don’t try to sow discord between me and Alexander!” Claire’s voice cut through the
tension.
She was clearly trying to conceal her panic, forcing her voice to remain steady. “Richard and and the recording just now is completely falsel
Innocent,
As she spoke, Claire grabbed Alexander’s arm desperately. “Alexander, you know me. How could I do something to let you down?”
Alexander almost instinctively retracted his arm, frowning slightly at her touch. The rejection was subtle but unmistakable.
Claire’s hands fell into empty air, and she looked at Alexander with complete disbelief. The color drained from

her face as the reality of his doubt hit her.
Suddenly, Richard patted Alexander’s back from behind, his voice filled with indignation.
*Alexander, are you crazy?” Richard demanded. “You doubt your intended mate because of a few false accusations from outsiders? Even if you don’t believe Claire, don’t you believe me? I’m your biological father!”
Alexander frowned slightly, and I caught a trace of hesitation flickering in his amber eyes. The family bond was clearly warring with his growing suspicions.
“Besides, Claire is pregnant with your pup now, you-”
Before Richard could finish his sentence, Claire suddenly covered her face and began sobbing, interrupting him directly. She cried with a look of complete heartbreak, her emerald eyes streaming with tears.
I curled my lips slightly, laughing Inwardly at the scene unfolding before me.
What a terrible teammate Richard was proving to bel Claire’s most panicked concern at the moment was
probably the time bomb growing in her stomach, and Richard had just brought it up openly.
If the pup in her belly was truly Alexander’s, it would be fine. But the problem was that it wasn’t Alexander’s it was Richard’s!
Didn’t this old wolf realize that a blood paternity test would solve everything once and for all? Once the seeds of doubt were planted in Alexander’s heart, sooner or later he would question the paternity test results from
before.
When he went for blood screening again, that would be when Claire and Richard were finally nailed to the pillar of shame.
“My stomach… My stomach hurts so much… Claire suddenly covered her belly and groaned in apparent pain. I couldn’t tell whether she was genuinely frightened and experiencing a threatened miscarriage, or whether she simply saw that the situation wasn’t going to end well for her.
Alexander’s expression immediately softened with concern. After all, the pup in Claire’s stomach might be his only offspring.
“What are you still standing there for?” Richard said anxiously, his voice filled with genuine worry. “Send her to Silvercrest Hospital quickly!”
I looked at Richard’s panicked expression and couldn’t help but laugh inwardly. Now I could clearly see who the biological father of the pup really was based on his desperate concern.
Alexander was also worried about the pup in Claire’s stomach, but his concern seemed more dutiful than emotional. He immediately bent down and picked her up, striding toward the exit with determined steps.
I stood there watching Claire and Richard in their panic, and the corners of my lips couldn’t t

Wait! This was just the beginning! Their retribution was still to come!

“Why didn’t you take out the paternity test report just now?” Dominic asked, tilting his head to look at me. There was a slight arc at the corner of his mouth that suggested he already knew the answer. Before I could respond, the arc of his smile became even more pronounced as he continued.

“Let me guess what you want to do? His silver–gray eyes gleamed with understanding. “Richard has already. mentioned the pup, so you want to make them both fall into a state of anxiety and torture. After all, the knife hanging over their heads may fall at any timel”
He paused, his smile widening. “After all, psychological torture is the most painful kind!”
I smiled back, having to admit that Dominic had guessed my intentions with remarkable accuracy.
Dominic laughed softly, clearly amused by something. “But I’m afraid you will be disappointed…”
I couldn’t help but feel stunned. “Why?”
Dominic seemed entertained by my confused expression. He raised his hand and gently scratched the tip of my nose, the gesture unexpectedly intimate.
“You think Alexander is too naive,” he explained patiently. “He didn’t know that Claire and Richard had this relationship before, so he never thought about it. But now, do you think he won’t go for a blood screening?”
The realization hit me like a physical blow. That was right I had been thinking too superficially about Alexander’s likely response.
“It doesn’t matter… Dominic comforted me, his voice gentle. “Claire must have taken a prenatal paternity test before. She’s not a fool and knows what this means. This kind of psychological torture is no less effective
than what you originally wanted.”
“That’s good,” I said, feeling relieved by his reassurance.
The farce at today’s marking ceremony preparation had caused a greater impact than I had ever expected. Of course, it was also thanks to Claire’s previous public prominence that this scandal caused such an unimaginable sensation after it broke out.
