From outside, the entrance seemed to just be a shed, so he knew that right behind the door was a small landing area just before a continuous staircase underground.
The door of the prison swung open, and Eagle dragged the guards back to the prison after taking their keys. He was careful to peek and check if there were people behind the door. Fortunately, there was none.
It was likely because of the war, and some people assigned here were also sent out.
However, it was safe to assume there'd be a few at the bottom of the staircase, especially when the two guards were not just trying to get their keys when they thought backup was coming—they were trying to press a button too.
It was probably an alarm or something, and fortunately he used several skills to imbalance them enough so they couldn't get near it. Anyway, Eagle kept as quiet as possible.
The door swung outwards, so it was easier to close down. This was typical for prisons because it'd be easier for guards to secure it from the outside. It could just be reinforced by crossbars or the like, and it was also good for ease of movement.
He heaved a sigh and looked at the interior of the dungeon so far. He wondered if it was manually constructed or was a system building.
The pathway had an arched construction, with the ceiling made of roughly cut stone blocks. The walls were made of similar materials, but they were dotted with wall lamps that lit up the way deeper underground.
The flat entryway was relatively large, about the size of a room, and on the side were chains, weapons, and other things hanging there. They were probably extra weapons for the guards, but they ended up in Eagle's space instead. There was also another 'alarm' there.
He took this chance to gulp down another bottle of mana potion and health potion, and then chewed a few mana cookies until his mouth was half-full.
He also left two bottles of Superior Healing Potion to keep, one for him and one for Chris. These were his last bottles now. If he couldn't rescue Chris here, he might not be able to.
He also took out another protection charm. The delivery bird could only bring so many charms back then, so they could only receive one each, but they were given a few before going here. Eagle still had two, and he wore them both out now.
With his sword out, he descended down the stairs. He used his ability to lighten his steps, reducing the noise his steps made. He also used his ability around his face, so his breathing wasn't so audible. He assumed the guards below were high-level so they would hear him breathing if he walked close enough.
Now, the Voice Blocker would've done the job, but he had to turn it off now to allow it to charge.
The Voice Blocker—like every tool or skill—naturally did not work endlessly. It had a cooldown, too.
Their Research Team had tested out the tools' limits before and Eagle knew that it would stop working soon. So rather than being caught off guard by it suddenly not working, he just used his skills to keep quiet instead.
It was more difficult than he expected though.
