After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World novel Chapter 1320

Basset Town

While Basset's spies were many and had been causing chaos, Alterra's own spies were also doing their jobs, and they were doing it quite well.

At this time, the door to Basset Town's Warehouse was blocked, covered with a mysterious substance that they couldn't quite get rid of.

For the first time in a while, he cursed that he couldn't just teleport to the warehouse during wars.

"What in the orcshit is this?!" Lord Bentro yelled. He didn't enter as soon as the war started—as he usually would—because he hoped to see the territory that killed his only offspring fall!

It was a good thing he did, because he wouldn't have known they were struggling and needed to mobilize more people. Despite various advice, he decided to send most of their remaining forces and even hired a few teams from the Mercenary Hall.

However, now that the majority of their defence forces had been mobilized, he had no choice but to go to the warehouse to hide until the war was over.

He had always hid in the Warehouse during wars. However, it was not necessarily because he was afraid of the enemy, but he was afraid of betrayals.

Although it was not public knowledge that the Lord token would get detached during wars, many people were secretly privy to it. In fact, he had almost been assassinated many times, even when he was a Level 3 Village.

This was another reason why Alterra chose to kill Patte right after the declaration. They wanted the Lord to be hot-headed and filled with emotions, hopefully exposed as much as possible to give way to their spies to do their jobs.

Seeing the guards pale and quiet, Bentro wanted to explode. "SPEAK!"

The guards assigned there shook and, after gathering their wits, reported what they knew. "A projectile flew from a direction, Milord. Because it wasn't a live object, the sentry didn't detect it!"

Bentro stared at the door covered with the muck that had a horrendous smell that would've made low-level people faint. It was the type of smell that stuck and felt like it entered—and was stuck—in the brain once inhaled.

"What in the orcshit is this?!" the lord screamed, an ominous feeling suddenly gripping his heart. "GET IT OPEN!"

"We… we're not sure how to do so, milord!" another said. "We have been trying—we have flushed it, we have wiped it—"

"Get out of my way!" the lord yelled, losing patience. He slapped the guard away and attempted to just open it by force. He wore a Class D glove that he had in his space, and wrapped his hand around the covered handle.

However, he already wanted to puke at the sight of the muck, let alone touching it!

Squelch

Barf—

He tried to pull it, but it was slippery and he only got the disgusting thing on his gloves instead.

He gritted his teeth, feeling a sense of urgency. "Someone burn it!" he yelled, looking at the guards. His fire elementalist bodyguard stepped forward and did so. The man was a level 32 fire elementalist and he summoned a mid-tier technique.

However, instead of burning out, it just started to bubble…

The fire user and the others weren't aware of this reaction, simply continuing with the use of his flamethrower, until—boom!

It exploded, causing them to fly several meters away, splashing the gooey liquid all over them. Not only were some of them actually injured, but many people vomited in disgust.
