After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World novel Chapter 1296

While the soldiers were handling the teams' leaders (the elementalists), the rest were handling the rest of the fighters.

However, the current Alterran teams had been still struggling because the people following the elementalists were at least level 20, which was far beyond the average in Alterra.

For now, there could only be a maximum of three Alterrans handling one enemy so it was, understandably, quite the dire situation. It was not a surprise that during the past couple of minutes their leaders were fighting elsewhere, a few Alterrans had gotten injured already.

Some of the guards here had been Tacky Brat and his friends.1 They were all around level 13 or so and all they might do was enclose a bastard in a shield enclosement—a formation that some people started to call the "Iron Ring".

The trio joined the guard exam as soon as they migrated from Limestone Valley and had been steadily making progress since then. Their cooperation was among the best and many individuals believed that—with enough contribution points—all of them would be promoted in another year or so!

Anyway, they were young, passionate, and valiant, and they bravely took on one of the stronger enemies—a level 22 swordsman.

They used brute force to enclose him in shields. It was disadvantageous since their levels were low, but they were doing decently considering everything.

They then used their other hand to continuously stab at the bastard inside. They didn't have the space to target weaknesses specifically, but random poking was no less annoying.

"You weaklings! Do you think this will kill me?!" the man yelled, eyes twitching when the number of wounds in his body increased. The level differences and his equipment protected him from deep wounds, but it was still a pain!

"Who cares! As long as you suffer!" Tacky yelled as he poked and poked, though he could not use much skill because most of his energy was dedicated to, well, containing the enemy with a shield.

"Stay there obediently!" Baka yelled, stabbing at him. "Since you're confident we can't kill you, anyway!"

They never believed they could defeat these people. All they needed to do was to hold them back long enough for reinforcements—or at least Luis and Mao—to get to them.

The aborigine pushed and pushed but the enemies were surprisingly stable despite the level differences. It baffled him. Why was this so difficult?!

What he didn't know was that one of the new equipment guards had was called the so-called spiked boots. After tapping a certain side button, small spikes would appear under the shoes. This would increase their traction as needed. It could also be used to attack, though when it came to powerful enemies, it was fairly useless (for now).

Further, awakened elementalists might also use their elements to stabilize them or to help push them forward. For example, wind users like Tacky could use the bit of element he could control to add a pushing force.

Earth users like Baka could add either buttresses, bury their own feet on soil (if he was stepping on soil), or add support on the shield itself.

The aborigine gritted his teeth, particularly annoyed, his pride hurt by how long he was stuck here. To be fair, it hadn't even been a few minutes, but people of their strength should not have been trapped for more than a couple of seconds—especially against people nearly half their level!

Then the tip of a spear actually stabbed his neck, and he became absolutely livid.

How dare they—

BANG!

"Hold on guys! Hold on!"

"We can do this!"

He tried to attack from above, but they angled the shields well. The shields were very high-quality, too. They were definitely Class D equipment, but they were even sturdier than the ones he usually encountered.

These bastards—

However, he eventually determined which shield had the least recoil compared to others. Without another thought, he immediately used a skill and attacked this 'weak spot'.

[Forceful Thrust]

He immediately lunged at it, causing it to quickly buckle under the strong and concentrated force.
