After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World novel Chapter 1294

After a few breaches were created by the invaders, a few hundred more entered. However, a good portion of them were detained within the wide easements, unable to step deeper into the territory.

This was accomplished using various strategies. Ignoring the areas that were pretty much impenetrable like the Golds' areas, the rest made use of intelligent formations, maximization of equipment, and so on.

A great majority of the fighting population was limited to the walls. After all, while the interior breaches were troublesome, winning the war was to keep the enemies out in the first place. It was also making sure the invaders were kept as near to the walls as possible.

Other than those, there was also the fact that a massive ball of black-and-white careened through the wide easement like a random pinball rolling around.

"PANDA AHOY!" Mao yelled and their allies knew what to watch out for. The enemies were not so lucky.

Pak!

A group of random enemies was thrown to the side.

Bang!

Another pair was pushed straight to a Alterran formation.

Smack!

And some—particularly those who were pushed down by Alterrans— were directly rolled over, and they could only gasp when an unexpected weight pressed over their bodies.

Although the ball—with its low level—could not really take down majority of the enemies he bumped into, the distraction and imbalance it created were helpful enough.

He continued to roll and roll and—if there was nothing to stop him—he could go around the entire territory.

The easements spanned the entire length of the walls, creating a clear area for the large ball to roll without having to turn back, and therefore would be difficult for the enemy to retaliate and prepare for.

Sadly, the ball was a living being in the end, and it did get dizzy. At some point, it just stopped, flopping to the side.

The invaders saw the strange animal like this. They didn't know what it was, but since it was vulnerable, they immediately went to attack it.

Unfortunately for them, trying to attack the ball was equivalent to a death wish—as if they hadn't asked for enough death by entering Alterra in the first place.

The retaliatory attack was brutal. The enemies judged it was better to be mobbed and trapped in shields by the humans elsewhere than be near that animal!

No one dared attack the flabby ball in the middle of the battlefield since then.

And so… the iron panda slept soundly, gathering energy to roll around again later on.

Some of those who had managed to get inside the easements were elementalists—a mix of elementalists from Terran and elementalists from the local area.

As a Town, Basset naturally had a number of elementalists. Overall, there were several dozen of them, though they were mostly in early level 20s.
