Young Lord of The Dragon Sect novel Chapter 638

"I understand, and please send my sincere wishes to the head of dragon lords. I won't let him down." Thomas said with a solemn expression.

"Well, very well. You will be generously rewarded with immeasurable fortune if you get things done." The man in black said, giving Thomas a rather empty promise.

The man was gone afterwards.

Looking at the figure left, Thomas’s eyes flickered, and he had almost forgotten that he was one of the men of the head of dragon lords in all these years. It made him sick to be under his command again.

But what would come to him if he dared to disobey his order? And what if he chose to trust Maximilian? Was it worth it?

Though Maximilian was said to be the nominal successor of the Dragon Sect, there were basically no actual forces supporting him.

There was an old saying that "the precious stone lands its innocent possessor in jail", and now Maximilian was the one who was holding that precious stone. It was no doubt that he was under great risk now.

The only purpose of the head of dragon lords was, obviously, to entrap Maximilian.

Thomas sighed, lighting a cigarette. He had no idea which side he should be.

Finished up his cigarette in seconds, Thomas frowned and murmured, "Life is difficult, while making choices made it even more so. So, what's next?"

He then stubbed out the cigarette, and initiated a bold idea in his mind.

Preston, dressed in a robe, got out of the car, reached out his hand and put a delicate box in his right hand. It was a little box made of pterocarpus santalinus. Looking at the box, Preston seemed extraordinarily pleasant and confident, as he prepared this becaise everyone said Marcus loved collection.

"Are the ingredients and cooks ready?" asked Preston.

"Yes, Mr. Richardson. The ingredients are more than fresh and the cooks here are the best among us." said his man.

Preston nodded with satisfaction, looked at the villa at the top of the hill drawing close to him, "Wait for my words and stay right here. I don't want to make our host frightened." Preston said and headed to the villa.

In front of the villa's door, Preston pushed the button and activated the video call to talk to the servant on duty.

Soon, the servant went to Marcus and said, "Master, someone called himself a friend of mistress wants to visit you."

Hearing that, Marcus ordered the servant to open the gate, and was about to go downstairs to greet the visitor.

Given that the visitor called himself the friend of his daughter, Marcus thought he should perform in a formal manner, because the basic etiquette was still necessary.

Sitting on the sofa and watching television, Laura and Flora looked at Marcus with confused eyes.

"What happened, Marcus? Why do you look so serious?" Laura asked in wonder.

"A friend of Victoria is knocking on the door for a visit. We'd better take it seriously because maybe he is one of her business partners and come to visit us before the home-warming banquet."

"Oh!" Laura exclaimed, straightened her back and complained to Marcus, "Why don't you tell me that earlier? If you'd informed me earlier, I would have a chance to get myself dressed nicely just now!"

At that moment, Preston took out the special delicate little box and put it in front of Marcus.

"I have brought some special gift for you, and I hope that uncle Griffith could kindly accept it." Preston said.

"Well, that's very kind for you, but you can always come here without bringing any gifts." Marcus said, and turned his eyes to the wooden box, which was really something.

He picked up the magnifying lens aside, began to check it in detail, and then said, "Wow, this is a wooden box made of old pterocarpus santalinus. I think it is extraordinarily expensive."

"It seems you know clearly about what's good and what's bad, Uncle Griffith. It is nothing more than a box. What's inside is the thing I want to present to you." Preston said slowly.

Marcus was just thinking it was too much for a gift at a first visit, but what Preston said aroused his curiosity. Then he opened the box and looked inside, a folding fan, with ivory framework and precious red jade pendant, was lying inside.

Without opening the fan, one could easily tell what's on the fan must be the masterpieces by some well-known painter, for no other painting could fit for such luxurious decorations.

"Wow, what a surprise! I bet the framework must be ivory of Asian elephants according to its print, and just look how beautiful that rare red jade is! I have no idea how much it is worth..." Marcus sighed.

"You have a good taste, uncle Griffith. And I think only a respected person like you can match for this." Preston said, smiling.

"I have to say no. It is a shame for me to receive something so precious."

Though he really wanted to accept the gift, Marcus still waved his hand and said no, because things would not be that simple when someone came and offered him a free gift like that.
