“I am Victoria’s husband, Maximilian. How do you do?” Maximilian said politely.
Preston smiled and said, “Mr. Maximilian looks quite…”
“Quite what?” Maximilian asked and raised his eyebrows.
“Can I tell the truth? But sometime it hurts to hear the truth, I’d better not say it. ”
If Victoria was not here, Preston would have told Maximilian bluntly that Maximilian was a loser and not worthy of Victoria at all.
But since Victoria was here, Preston decided not to be blunt in order to leave a good impression on Victoria.
Victoria felt Maximilian and Preston would not get on well with each other and could not help to feel a bit headache.
She touched Maximilian’s leg lightly with her foot and said, “Sorry to keep you waiting for us.”
“There is no need to apologize, Victoria. If it weren’t for your help, I would have died long ago. I will do anything just for you, let alone waiting for you,” Preston said and flicked his folding fan. The fan flicked open and a Chinese ink-painting fan artwork by the famous painter revealed.
The fan was made by the precious dalbergia odorifera and painted by the famous painter. All made this fan invaluable.
Ordinary people would treat this fan as treasure and put it on the shrine. But Preston used it as if it was an ordinary fan. His wealth must be beyond imagination.
Victoria glanced at the fan and considered it was really beautiful, but she did not know the value of it.
Preston was meant to show off in front of Victoria, but it seemed as useless as a blind man holding a candle.
That Victoria didn’t pay any attention to his folding fan made Preston disappointed. How much he wanted to tell her that this fan cost him 20 million dollars.
“Waiter, serve the dishes now.” Preston yelled at the kitchen and then smile, “Victoria, I ask my chef to cook you some special. Bon appétit.”
“Thank you so much! We are here to ask for your help and you even invite us for dinner. We feel so embarrassed.” Victoria thought this Preston was over enthusiastic to her.
Even though she saved him before but still, this was just too much.
“Please don’t say that! You are my savior, nothing I do can repay you enough. What do you need me for?”
Seeing that Preston finally turned the topic to the real business, Victoria began to talk about the matter.
“It is my husband. He has some conflicts with someone because of me, and these people are really powerful. I am going to hold a housewarming banquet in a few days and I heard they are going to sabotage the banquet. I am a bit worried and hope you can give me some help.”
After hearing what Maximilian said, Preston’s eyebrows raised and he stared at Maximilian with so much anger in his eyes that they almost shot out fire.
Being chased by the enemies and forced to hide were the pain of the Richardson family for generations. As the lowest level of the seclusion families, the Richardson could not even hold their heads up.
“Do you dare to say that again? I will beat you to death!” Preston said furiously and pressed his right hand on the table with great force.
The solid wooden table crackled and Preston’s hand sunk in slowly into the table. Soon, a palm print was printed on the table by Preston with ease.
Preston held up his hand and looked at the palm print. He said in a deep voice, “This slap was meant for your face, if you were not Victoria’s husband.”
Victoria felt a little panicked and said hastily, “Preston, please don’t bother yourself with what Maximilian said. He sometimes could not control himself and talked nonsense.”
She shot Maximilian a glance, indicating Maximilian to apologize.
Maximilian ignored Victoria’s hint and said with a smile, “Why do you get angry? Did I just accidently state a truth?”
“You bastard! You want a fight?” Preston stood up suddenly and posed for a fight.
