Where Petals of Vengeance Bloom novel Chapter 143

Claire lay curled up in bed, her face flushed, her feverish body feeling as if it had just emerged from a furnace. Her lips were dry and cracked, and she let out pained groans, clutching the sheets tightly as though doing so could ease the turmoil within her.

Beside her, Aberdeen was at a loss, wringing his hands anxiously. Grace and May watched with tear-filled eyes, their hearts aching as if they were being cut by a knife at the sight of Claire’s suffering.

When Sean entered the room, he didn't hesitate. He scooped Claire into his arms and dashed downstairs. He could feel the intense heat radiating from her, as if it might burn him.

“Hospital!” Sean commanded with stern urgency.

The group hurried downstairs and piled into the car. During the drive, May suddenly recalled something and said urgently, “Don’t take her to Cresthaven General Hospital. Head to Cresthaven Memorial Hospital instead.”

The Linwood family, along with Vincent and Brian, were at the General Hospital. They were a troublesome bunch, and Claire always seemed to have misfortune when encountering them. This time, they had to ensure Miss Claire was far from the Linwood family.

Liam pressed the gas pedal harder, and the car sped forward like an arrow released from a bow. In less than twenty minutes, they arrived at Cresthaven Memorial Hospital.

Coincidentally, Victor and his colleagues had just finished an academic conference at the hospital and were preparing to return to the General Hospital. Despite Victor’s often nonchalant and cavalier demeanor, he was a leading doctor at Cresthaven General Hospital, highly respected in the medical field. As such, he frequently attended academic conferences and seminars as a representative of exceptional doctors.

As they were chatting and laughing, making their way out of the hospital building, Sean rushed past them with Claire in his arms, heading straight for the emergency room. Aberdeen, Grace, and May followed, panting heavily.

In that brief moment, Victor paused, a flash of surprise and confusion crossing his eyes. Instinctively, he glanced back, only to catch the fading figure of Sean’s tall, imposing silhouette, Claire’s long hair swaying as he moved away.

“With just one kidney, her ability to metabolize alcohol is severely compromised. She consumed a large amount of alcohol, leading to dangerously high levels in her system. Fortunately, her remaining kidney is quite healthy; otherwise, in her weakened state, she would have succumbed to multiple organ failure due to the excessive drinking.”

“You brought her in not too late, so the damage isn’t as severe as it could have been, but her condition is still critical. We’ll do our best to treat her.”

Aberdeen nearly collapsed upon hearing this, but Grace quickly supported her. May stood frozen, her eyes wide with shock.

“One kidney?” May stammered. “How could Miss Claire have only one kidney?”

As the doctor returned to the emergency room, Aberdeen looked at May with a weary expression. “May, how is it possible that Claire only has one kidney?”
