Chapter 303 A Shotgun Marriage
After Terrence left, Alexa immediately walked away and answered the phone with a slightly sullen face.
"What is it?"
"Ms. Duran, the new treatment plan has been made. When can you come over?"|
The man sounded emotionless, yet his voice made Alexa extremely uneasy.
"As soon as possible."
"OK. If you feel dizzy, find it hard to breathe, or even faint, please come to us right away."
"I see. Thank you, Dr. McMillan."
They ended the call shortly after.
Alexa stared at the phone screen for a while and suddenly felt depressed.
When she went back to Terrence and the others, he instinctively held her hand.
"What dragged you so long? Do you need my help?"
"Nothing serious." Alexa shook her head leisurely. "It was just some work handover."
"OK."
Terrence nodded, and they skipped the topic naturally.
"Alexa looks better now." Rebekah caressed Alexa's cheek lovingly. "Terrence, take care of Alexa."
"I will."
"If you are busy, let Damar stay with Jason and me."
Rebekah was kind of joking, yet Terrence took it seriously.
"No need. I have a lot to deal with in the company, but I always have time to take care of Alexa and Damar."
Rebekah chuckled. Everything went without saying.
"Someone is so clingy," she teased meaningfully. "I'm afraid that
Jason and I won't be allowed to spend time with Alexa for even just ten minutes."
"Rebekah..."
Alexa's voice was so soft, and she blushed.
Even Terrence's palm was a bit hot.
Alexa subconsciously looked sideways at him, and Terrence looked away, which was a first.
"Lunch is ready. Let's go," Jason greeted happily.
In such an environment, Alexa soon forgot the phone call.
However, Finley's words were still lingering in her mind.
She couldn't make them go away.
After lunch, Terrence went back to the office to work.
Jason and Rebekah were playing with Damarion. Seeing that they were enjoying themselves, Alexa did not disturb them.
"Jason, Rebekah, I'll leave Damar with you. I need to take care of some work," Alexa said.
"Alright!" Rebekah agreed at once.
She and Jason were more than happy to take care of Damarion.
Damarion perfectly inherited Alexa and Terrence's merits. He was cute and honey-tongued.
However, Rebekah then thought of something and warmly took Alexa to the side.
"Alexa, is this too much for you?"
Seeing Alexa a little surprised, Rebekah smiled briskly.
"If you feel tired, you might as well have a good rest. Nothing is more important than your own health."
"Rebekah, I'm fine."
Alexa held Rebekah's hand, indicating that Rebekah didn't have to be worried.
"You know what? There are some things that Terrence can handle perfectly," Rebekah reminded subtly. "I know you are a kind woman, but there is no need to put up with it when others are out of the line."
"Thank you, Rebekah. I understand."
With that, Alexa left thoughtfully.
Rebekah walked back in silence. She bumped into Jason, who happened to walk out of Damarion's room.
"What's wrong? Who messed with you?" Jason lovingly pulled her into his arms.
Rebekah frowned in dissatisfaction. She was no longer dignified or elegant.
Rebekah smiled and asked her assistant to put the gift on the table.
When Giselle saw the precious jewelry, her eyes lit up instantly.
"Actually, we should have paid a visit earlier."
Rebekah spoke slowly. Giselle sensed that something was wrong.
"However, Alexa had some unpleasant experiences here, so we are here a few days late."
"Unpleasant experiences?" Giselle forced a smile. "Why didn't she tell me?"
"Ms. Niebergall, you haven't been here for a long time, so there's something you don't know."
"Oh?"
"Alexa is very independent. She won't easily tell strangers what she is thinking."
Hearing the word "strangers", Giselle curled her lips.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Ramsey, I'm afraid there has been some misunderstanding."
Giselle held her waist, and the fake smile on her face became brighter.
"Keyon and I share a shotgun marriage, and that makes me his legitimate wife."
"Well, that's great."
Rebekah was not hysterical, but Giselle was getting angrier.
Meanwhile, there was a noise outside the door.
"Jason? Rebekah? Why are you here?" Alexa asked in surprise.
"Alexa, we are here to pay a visit to your brother and sister-in- law."
Keyon stood beside Alexa and respectfully nodded.
"Hello, Jason, Rebekah."
"Hi," Jason responded without a smile on his face.
Alexa had a faint idea of what was going on. She silently walked to Jason and Rebekah.
"Jason, Rebekah, shall I sit with you for a while?"
"No need, Alexa. We are here to take you home."
