Unveiling the Genius Behind the Divorcee novel Chapter 242

Chapter 242 This Heartless Woman

Pick someone up?

As Aylin sashayed away, Gavyn seemed to be jealous. His heart felt pain as it constricted, and his face turned extremely dark and unpleasant to look at.

She had a bright smile for other men, but remained completely indifferent to my apologies and attempts to make amends.

This heartless woman!

Lloyd was speechless.

Originally, Lloyd thought that since Aylin’s attitude had improved, it would make Gavyn be in a better mood by talking to her. However, after her visit, the atmosphere seemed to have gotten chillier.

Oh! What the heck!

Fearing that he would have to endure this inexplicable anger again once he returned, Lloyd couldn’t help but inwardly curse his luck, his face scrunching up into a tight frown.

Who on earth is coming that Ms. Koch has to pick up at such a bad timing?

Aylin hurried down at the fastest speed she had ever gone, wishing she could fly straight to the airport.

Just as she stepped out of the company’s main entrance, she saw a luxurious sapphire blue convertible parked by the roadside. Robert got out of the car, hair gently tousled by the wind.

Aylin excitedly ran over. “Robert, you got here so fast! I was thinking we’d meet at the airport together.”

Robert stepped forward to support her, gently helping her tuck her long black hair behind her ear, with a tender and doting tone. “Don’t walk so fast. What if you sprain your ankle?”

Aylin glanced at her one-inch heels and was speechless.

All right, then.

“I thought I might not get there in time.”

Aylin couldn’t help but feel exasperated by Robert’s indulgence. She held his hand and whispered her complaint, “Why didn’t you tell me earlier that Harry was coming back? You only told me when we were already at the airport, and we might be late to pick him up! Let’s go to the airport!”

As she spoke, she eagerly tried to pull Robert into the car, her whole body exuding an air of impatience.

Robert hurriedly held her back. “Don’t panic. Just wait a moment and look at my phone!”

Robert glanced at his phone screen.

On the screen, in the WhatsApp conversation box, Harry informed Robert that he would be returning and specifically instructed. (Aylin has been working hard, so don’t tell her in advance and don’t let her pick me up. Let her have a good rest.]

Robert replied with a Mona Lisa “OK” emoji.

Upon checking the message timestamp, Aylin realized it was from yesterday.

Aylin, annoyed, punched Robert lightly and stomped her foot, exclaiming, “Robert! How could you have coordinated with him. It’s rare for him to come back, so how could you not let me pick him up?”

Robert hurriedly begged for mercy and went to hold Aylin’s hand to help her massage her wrist. “It’s just that Harry asked me to keep it a secret. He wants to surprise you.”

“Let’s just go home and wait. Come on, come on.” Robert pushed Aylin into the car, and just as he was about to crouch down and get in, he suddenly paused.

Aylin asked with curiosity, “What’s wrong?”

Robert seemed to have remembered something and apologized with a smile, “Aylin, I just remembered that there’s an urgent matter at the racing club. I need to pop there real quick. You go ahead, and I’ll catch up soon.”

Robert’s racing club often held various activities, and as a senior, he had to make an appearance. Aylin already knew about this, so she didn’t give it much thought.

“Then hurry back, I’ll be waiting for you.”

Robert watched as Aylin drove away, a hint of heartache flashing across his expression.

He didn’t tell Aylin that Harry had come back this time for a special reason, which the silly girl had probably forgotten herself.

We must not forget…

Aylin drove back to the Koch’s home first. Along the way, the sunlight was just right, and a gentle breeze brushed past, making her feel so refreshed that the world seemed much more lovely.

Harry was coming back, which meant that another one of her loved ones was returning to her side. Aylin’s heart felt sweeter than honey.

In order to get back quickly, Aylin took a shortcut, which was a path rarely traveled by others.

She had it all planned out. As soon as she got home, she would wash her hands and head to the kitchen to prepare the ingredients. She would wait for Harry to come home and cook him a delicious meal to welcome him and help him settle Harry loved eating fish, so she wanted to go to the supermarket to pick the best sea bass.

Aylin was imagining the joyful scene of the family reuniting when Harry returned. Just then, a long black sedan suddenly rushed towards her!

In a fit of anger, he slammed the car door shut with a bit more force than usual.

Sure enough, there was a dull thud as the car door slammed shut. Lloyd instinctively closed his eyes, not because of anything else, but simply because he was already used to it.

“Find out where she went.”

The car hadn’t started yet when suddenly, a voice from the back seat blurted out such a sentence.

Lloyd was momentarily stunned, but quickly nodded in response. “All right. I’ll immediately send someone to investigate.”

Turning his head, he sent a message and couldn’t help but grumble in his heart. Mr. Delacruz is good at everything, but his emotional intelligence is a bit low, and he’s so awkward!

He’s very concerned about Ms. Koch’s whereabouts, but he prefers to send someone to investigate secretly rather than going to check on her himself.

It’s hard to say what it’s all for, isn’t it?

Settling into the car, Gavyn leaned back against the spacious leather seat, his slender fingers gently massaging his throbbing temples.

The moment the accelerator was engaged, a burst of ringing echoed through the air.

Gavyn glanced at the incoming call display. It was a strange number with a location-based area code, but since it could reach his private number, he decided to answer it.

“Hello?”

On the other end of the phone, a familiar, plaintive female voice sounded.

“Gavyn…”

Gavyn had a headache and didn’t want to hold his phone to his ear. He chose the speakerphone option instead. Lloyd, sitting in the front row, felt a twitch in his brow and rolled his eyes in annoyance.

These past few days, Lloyd had heard Laila crying and making a fuss, insisting that Gavyn answer the phone, but he dutifully blocked all her attempts.

Thus, Laila tried every trick in the book, from crying and making a scene to threatening to hang herself. There was no difference between her and a shrewish woman. Gone was the elegant and noble demeanor of the dancer she once was.

Lloyd now found her voice annoying whenever he heard it.

Gavyn’s face looked quite unpleasant. “Is something wrong?”
