For Taylor, this was already a significant step forward. After all, growth wasn't something that happened overnight, and Hugo still required more time.
What should have been a joyful moment turned awkward, leaving both Taylor and Abigail feeling somewhat helpless.
Who wouldn't want to receive everyone's well wishes on such an important day?
Luckily, Helen and her family arrived just in time to lift the mood, making sure the couple wouldn't leave with any regrets on such a meaningful occasion.
"Congratulations! You've finally reached your goal!" Helen said warmly, leading her two children downstairs to offer their blessings. "This is a big moment, and we should celebrate properly! Dear Taylor, have you made the reservations? Today, I'm treating you to a huge feast, and you can't get out of it!"
Taylor's expression shifted from gloomy to cheerful, and he awkwardly scratched the back of his head. "Don't worry, boss. I'm not going anywhere. But I'm afraid I'll have to decline."
"Why?" Helen asked, her brow furrowing in confusion.
"We've already made plans," Abigail answered confidently, stepping into her role as matriarch. "First, we'll take care of Aiden. Then, we'll have the engagement banquet to invite friends and family." As she spoke, she couldn't help but glance at Taylor.
Helen watched the exchange between them with a warm smile, feeling truly happy for them. "Well, at least the misunderstandings have been cleared up. Things will only get better from here."
"Aiden is nothing but a bastard! He's been scheming behind our backs, almost making us miss everything. I'd love to lock him up right now!" Taylor's frustration deepened after discussing the situation with Abigail on their way there.
"I think you're just excited to get yourself a wife!" Helen teased.
At this, both Taylor and Abigail became embarrassed. They exchanged a shy smile, feeling too awkward to stay any longer.
"I suppose we'll see each other at the engagement banquet. We should head back now."
With that, Abigail turned and headed for the door, with Taylor trailing closely behind her.
Just then, Sienna suddenly let go of Helen's hand. She ran over and wrapped her arms around Taylor's leg, stopping him in his tracks.
"What's wrong, Nana?" Taylor bent down, gently ruffling her hair.
"Uncle Taylor, this is for you!" Sienna said, raising her right hand and placing a clear plastic bottle into his palm.
"What's this?" he asked, glancing at the bottle in confusion.
Sienna stood on her tiptoes, wrapping her arms around Taylor's head and whispering playfully in his ear, "Uncle Taylor, this is my wedding gift to you. If you take it, I'll be getting a little sister soon!"
"What?" Taylor exclaimed, his face turning red.
Surely, Sienna couldn't mean what he thought she meant, could she?
"What's going on?" Abigail asked, turning back to see what was happening.
Panicking, Taylor quickly stuffed the plastic bottle into his pocket and gently nudged Abigail toward the door. "It's nothing. Nana's just wishing us well. Let's go!"
"Goodbye, Uncle Taylor and Aunt Abigail!" Sienna called out, jumping up and waving excitedly. She was already imagining a little sister on the way.
Having watched Sienna's actions closely, Lincoln leaned in and whispered, "Nana, what did you just give Uncle Taylor?"
"It's the sleep aid from your shelf. You said the wedding night would be tiring, so if Uncle Taylor drinks this and gets some rest, he'll be able to give me a little sister!"
Sienna's logic was straightforward—a person needed energy for everything. Of course, Taylor and Abigail needed to rest if they were going to have another baby.
Lincoln was momentarily stunned.
"Linc, do you think we'll get a little sister soon?" Sienna asked, her eyes shining with excitement.
How could this family survive without him?
…
With their feelings now clear, Taylor and Abigail were officially together.
After leaving the Newton residence, they grabbed a quick bite and then made their way back to Taylor's place.
As soon as they stepped inside and set down their helmets, Taylor wasted no time. He lifted Abigail and placed her on the counter.
Before long, the air between them grew thick with tension, their breaths growing heavier.
"One moment of passion is priceless. Let's go to the bedroom," Taylor suggested.
Abigail nodded at first, but then suddenly began shaking her head.
She looked up at him, narrowing her eyes. Grabbing Taylor's tie, she playfully demanded, "Tell me, how many women have you been with before?"
"On my honor, I've always been a man of integrity," Taylor replied, raising his hand. "I swear, you're the first."
"Then how come…" Abigail hesitated, trying to find the right words. "How come you seem so experienced?"
Taylor couldn't help but chuckle. "When I met you, everything just fell into place."
The line was corny, but it worked like a charm.
Abigail was satisfied with his answer, and a smile spread across her face.
