Just then, a pair of large hands suddenly grasped Abigail's waist. She tensed up in an instant, and by the time she realized what had happened, she was already lifted by Taylor.
Taylor was smiling, and she seemed to be able to foresee his answer. All her anxiousness disappeared at this moment, and she was finally relieved.
She gazed at him the way a man would look at a woman, causing Taylor to feel embarrassed. Blushing, he pulled himself together, but his lips still involuntarily curled upward.
"You're right. Boss went missing over the past seven years, but I was the one who suffered the aftermath. I became over-cautious and indecisive.
"From today on, you're the head of our family, and I will listen to whatever you say. Abigail, I love you. I want you to be mine."
Abigail's face turned visibly red, and she had butterflies in her stomach. "Silly, hurry up and carry me inside. Otherwise, the office will close soon."
"Oh, right, right. We need to get the marriage certificate." The two hurriedly ran inside, only to be kicked out less than two minutes later.
Taylor scratched the back of his head in frustration. "Why do we need to make an appointment to get married? And there are so many documents required—it's going to take a long time to have everything ready."
Abigail had no idea the process would be so lengthy. She smiled and shrugged. "It's my fault for dragging you here without doing some research beforehand. It's my first time, and I have no experience, so please bear with me."
Taylor turned to look at her in a daze—she sounded too polite. He took a deep breath, braced himself to walk over, and cupped her face, kissing her deeply.
Abigail was completely inexperienced. She stared at him wide-eyed and instinctively held her breath, her fists clenching tightly at her sides.
Only when their breathing grew uneven did Taylor reluctantly step back. When he looked at Abigail again, his eyes were already burning with affection. "So this is what it feels like to be with a lover."
"It's none of your business," Abigail said sassily.
Taylor narrowed his eyes and came up with a mischievous idea. He hoisted Abigail onto his back. "Let's see how you can report me now."
They playfully wrestled for a while before calming down. After that, they went to the Newton residence.
If it weren't for Helen, the two of them wouldn't have been able to get together. Although they hadn't registered their marriage yet, they still wished to share the good news with her first.
When they entered the Newton residence hand in hand, they ran into Hugo, who had come out to look for food.
Seeing their interlocked fingers, Hugo's expression instantly changed. He purposely went over to stare at their hands.
