Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1873

It was clear that Taylor's actions were driven by his desire to help Abigail.

However, with the possibility that Hugo might become Abigail's new fiancé after Aiden's downfall, Taylor couldn't afford to reveal the truth in front of him.

"I'm good friends with your sister," Taylor said, using Lucy as a convenient cover. "She's helped me before, so I couldn't just stand by."

"I didn't know you had a thing for Lucy," Hugo said, his tone shifting to suspicion. "Are you just like Aiden, hoping to marry into wealth and become the next big thing?"

Although Hugo wasn't highly educated, he understood the immense value of his family's medical research team on the global stage. The patents for the drugs they were developing alone would be enough to secure his family's wealth for generations to come.

Because of their wealth and influence, many people sought to marry into his family, hoping to rise to the top and enjoy a life of luxury.

Taylor was momentarily stunned. "Is that really how you see me? I'm the one who saved your life, for heaven's sake!"

"That's not the point!" Hugo snapped. "You might've saved my life, but that doesn't give you the right to make a move on my sister. Not a chance!"

He would never allow someone without a proper background to marry Lucy.

"Well, that's good to hear," Taylor responded, clearly unfazed. "Just make sure you don't give me any opportunities."

With that, he casually climbed into the bed and closed his eyes, preparing to sleep.

"Hey, that's my bed! I'm the one who's sick!" Hugo protested, clearly irritated. He couldn't believe Taylor had the nerve to act so dismissively. Wasn't he trying to become his brother-in-law?

"I'm feeling pretty weak too," Taylor said, lying still. "Anyway, you're not in any real danger now. On the other hand, I might collapse if I don't get some rest. Could you show a little selflessness for once? Alright, I'm going to sleep. Goodnight."

With a tired yawn, Taylor quickly drifted off.

Hugo opened his mouth, ready to argue, but ultimately held back his words. As he watched Taylor sleep, doubts about his true identity began to form in his mind.

If Taylor hadn't been using some sort of cheat that day, it meant he was genuinely skilled—likely a tech expert.

An executive in the IT department could earn a few million a year, and a hacker might make even more. But that was a shady, risky path, and someone in that field hardly deserved to be with someone like Lucy.

The man shook his head. "The other party took precautions. We couldn't trace them, so their identity is still unknown."

"No sensitive data was compromised, right?" Aiden asked, his tone wary.

"Relax," the man responded confidently. "Anyone capable of beating me is already six feet under. No one's coming back to challenge me."

He had been a hacker for years, going up against countless opponents—most of whom were all talk and lacked any real skill.

But Helen was different—she was the one person he genuinely respected. It had taken him a great deal of effort to break through the programs she created.

Hacking wasn't just about breaching defenses; it was like a game of chess, where strategies constantly evolved and outcomes were unpredictable.

To succeed, one would require not only flawless technical skills but also the ability to adapt to constantly changing circumstances.

For a long time, the man had dreamed of facing Helen in a direct showdown. He wanted to witness her skills firsthand and feel the full force of her expertise.
