Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1560

On the surface, Abraham presented himself as a paragon of virtue, but behind the scenes, he schemed against his daughter.

It didn't matter—Helen wasn't Kaylee. With Abraham making his move, it was her turn now.

Suppressing her impatience, Helen listened as Duncan wrapped up his pitch. She casually pulled her phone from her handbag and turned off the recording app she had been running.

Seeing her lack of response, Duncan moved the contract closer, his tone growing sharp. "Kaylee, it's important to show respect when discussing serious matters with your elders. A little break from your devices won't hurt. Since you're already familiar with the details, why not just sign the contract?"

Upon hearing Duncan's tone, Abraham couldn't help but click his tongue in annoyance.

How could Duncan be so oblivious? He knew "Kaylee" responded better to gentle persuasion, yet here he was being harsh. If this went south, Abraham would have no choice but to sever ties with him.

To his surprise, "Kaylee" didn't seem upset; in fact, her mood brightened. With a gentle smile, she turned to Duncan. "Just a moment. I'm still waiting for a few friends."

"Friends?" Abraham asked, confusion etching his face. "You didn't mention bringing anyone with you."

"Well, now you know," Helen replied with a casual shrug.

At that moment, a group of men entered the room. Though dressed simply, their imposing presence commanded attention.

After surveying the room, they approached the table and stopped beside them.

The leader of the group showed his badge to Duncan. "We're from the Major Crimes Unit. You're suspected of fraud, and we need you to come with us for questioning. We expect your full cooperation."

He pulled out a pair of handcuffs and secured one around Duncan's wrist.

Realizing the situation, Duncan pointed at Abraham and shouted, "So this is what's happening! I thought we were friends, but here you are, teaming up with your daughter to frame me! If you're going to act like this, don't blame me for turning against you. Officer, I was actually being—"

"Manipulated into this?" Abraham interrupted, panic flashing in his eyes at the thought of Duncan revealing the truth.

He hurried over and pulled Duncan aside, whispering urgently, "Look, I can still talk to Kaylee and try to get her to let you go. But if I get arrested too, we're both in deep trouble!"

"What are you two talking about?" the officer demanded sharply.

Abraham quickly draped an arm around Duncan, turning to the officer with a sheepish grin. "It's nothing. He was just telling me he's also a victim. If that's the case, I won't pursue this any further. Can we let him go now?"

"I never said I wouldn't press charges," Helen chimed in icily, crushing their hopes.
