Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1537

"I refuse to accept this!" The manager erupted, his frustration boiling over. "This is Kaylee's fault! Why should I bear the blame? If you're going to fire me, you'd better get rid of her too!"

"And what gives you the right to negotiate with me?" Taylor shot back, his gaze icy.

Despite quaking under Taylor's intense scrutiny, the manager pressed on, desperate to drag Helen into the fray. "Since the gloves are off, I'm not afraid to make things ugly.

"Kaylee has always been part of my team, and she can't evade her responsibility. If you want me to keep quiet, you'll need to pay me ten years' worth of salary!"

Taylor scoffed. "I didn't realize you had such grand ambitions. If that's how you want to play it, fine. Summon the company's legal counsel to give our manager a crash course in the law. Good luck trying to take even a penny from my family—I'll eat my hat if you manage it."

"There's no need for that," Helen interrupted calmly. "I never intended to stay on, anyway. If you want to pursue legal action against the company, I'd be more than willing to testify.

"I'll ensure everyone hears about every inappropriate thing you've done over the years. Then you'll really understand what it's like to be shut out of this industry."

The manager was caught off guard by Helen's assertiveness, his bravado faltering. Compensation was one thing; ruining his reputation and getting blacklisted would make finding work at his age nearly impossible.

After weighing his options, he finally decided to concede. "Kaylee, you may have won this time, but we'll see who gets the last laugh!" he spat, storming toward the door.

As Helen watched him leave, she noticed Abigail standing nearby, holding a helmet. When Abigail caught sight of Helen, she immediately waved enthusiastically.

Soon after, the three of them headed to a nearby restaurant together.

"Fine, I guess that's my luck. Is the password still Helly's birthday?" Taylor replied, effortlessly unlocking the phone.

"Yes," Abigail confirmed with a nod.

For a moment, Helen lost her train of thought, warmth spreading in her chest. It was touching to see how well these two remembered her details.

"Well then, I'll leave you two to chat. I'll step outside and finish this game quickly," Taylor said, getting up and heading out to the balcony in search of an empty table.

Noticing Taylor's attentive demeanor toward Abigail, Helen decided to probe a bit more. "Mr. Xander seems quite invested in your affairs—he remembers even the smallest details."
