As the chaos unfolded in the office, Helen remained composed, quietly observing the turmoil.
Suddenly, someone caught sight of her.
"Kaylee's back!"
"She's here!"
"Kaylee has arrived!"
In an instant, the entire office froze, their attention pivoting to Helen.
For a moment, the atmosphere was electric, punctuated only by the incessant ringing of phones—a reminder that this was far from a tranquil scene.
Before long, the manager burst out of his office, unleashing a barrage of criticism.
"Kaylee! What on earth are you trying to do? I've always treated you well, so why would you sabotage us? What do you gain from the company's downfall? Do you really hate us this much? Is your goal to see us homeless and begging on the streets?"
Helen feigned innocence, waving her hand dismissively in front of her nose.
"It's already afternoon, and his breath still reeks. He must be burning up inside for that to happen," she thought.
The manager was completely bewildered by her actions, his brow furrowing even more. "What's with that attitude? After causing this much trouble, you still have the audacity to appear so impatient—are you trying to start a rebellion or something?"
"I don't care if you looked at them or not; the reality is that several projects are facing issues now, and you need to take responsibility for this!" The manager stood with his hands on his hips, visibly seething.
"I'm willing to take responsibility, but don't think you can just wash your hands of this," Helen stated firmly.
The manager stared at her in disbelief, as if she had just cracked the world's worst joke. With a mocking laugh, he shot back, "What's this? Do you really think you can drag me into taking the blame for your mistakes?"
"Who's truly accountable here is still up for debate. As the manager, you assigned a crucial company project to someone just returning from an extended leave. If we're talking about responsibility, you should be the first to take ownership," Helen countered, her tone steady and assertive.
"This is my domain, and I set the rules. If I say you're responsible, then that's final—no one can contest that!" the manager shot back, his eyes narrowing with hostility.
