Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1470

"Are you sure she's the champion of this year's International Ballroom Dance Competition? Take her to the back garden. Make sure no one sees her."

As Miguel finished his call and stepped out, he nearly collided with Caroline. His expression shifted, tension creeping in. "You didn't hear anything, did you?"

"Are you seriously planning to find someone else to dance with? What about me?" Caroline asked bluntly.

"You can sit off to the side. Let her take your place on stage wearing your mask. After we win, we'll swap you back in. No one will notice," Miguel said matter-of-factly.

"But I've come to understand something," Caroline replied, her pride shining through. "It's just a friendly match. Winning or losing should depend entirely on one's abilities—what's the point of cheating?"

Miguel laughed. "It's easy for you to say. You're not the one who'll have to dance the samba in your underwear if you lose. But let me warn you—don't tempt fate. You'd better go to the garden and let the dancer take your place. If you mess this up, I'll make sure you regret it."

"Miguel, how dare you talk to me like that?" Caroline glared at him, fury igniting in her eyes.

"And what did I say wrong?" Miguel shrugged, feigning indifference. "If it weren't for the fact that you're Taylor's woman, do you think I'd be interested in you? I've been more than fair, haven't I? What more could you want?"

"You bastard!" Caroline gritted her teeth, fists clenching in anger.

"I've always been a bastard; you knew that from the start. But even as a bastard, I still managed to win you over, didn't I?" Miguel stepped closer, relishing his arrogance.

"You—"

Furious, Caroline raised her hand to slap him, but Miguel was quicker, shoving her to the ground.

"You little slut!" he spat, pointing at her. "Don't think you can defy me. I've got a huge bet riding on tonight, and I need everything to go perfectly. Anyone who tries to mess this up is as good as dead!"

"Looks like you really are something," Caroline shot back, disdain heavy in her voice. "I used to think you were just tasteless, but now I see you're nothing but a total disgrace."

"Wait two more minutes before you enter. Don't speak to anyone; just come straight to me. Keep it discreet, and I'll reward you with a bonus afterward," he instructed.

With that, Miguel made his way back to the banquet hall.

Meanwhile, the woman slipped on the mask. After waiting two minutes, she walked toward the brightly lit ballroom.

As she stepped through the stone archway, a sudden sting pierced the nape of her neck. She instinctively reached back, but darkness swiftly closed in, causing her to collapse.

The woman in the fox mask quickly caught her, drawing minimal attention as she guided the dance champion into a nearby room.

When the door opened again, she emerged wearing Caroline's mask, confidently rejoining the festivities.
