"He's outside," the staff member replied mechanically, too busy moving the painting.
Helen and Chandler immediately rushed out, but by the time they reached the door, there was already no one in sight.
They had come for the matter of the proliferation of fake paintings, but the person was gone. Helen couldn't help but feel dejected.
Germaine caught up with them at this moment and comforted her, "There's always a way. Don't be discouraged."
"Thank you." Helen pursed her lips and smiled.
"The private restaurant I went to last time is not bad; do you want to go and try it together?" Germaine suggested.
"Okay, I'm a bit hungry now," Helen agreed readily.
Germaine passed the car key to her and said, "I'm not familiar with the roads in Glendale, so you drive."
"No problem."
By the time Jenson came out, the two people were already in the car. "Where do we meet?" Jenson asked excitedly, leaning on the passenger window.
"Did I invite you?" Germaine raised her eyebrows and turned to instruct Helen, "We can go now."
"Bye." Helen waved at him, then started the car engine and drove away.
"Hey! Hey!" Jenson chased after them for a while but was still left behind. When he turned and saw Chandler coming out from the exhibition hall, he grabbed Chandler and said, "I didn't drive today. Please give me a ride."
"Where are you going?" Chandler asked faintly.
"Where else? I'm going to have a meal with Helen and Germaine," Jenson replied.
"Then we're not going the same way. I need to go back to the company," Chandler rejected.
"Are you not going to have dinner?" Jenson was taken aback.
Chandler found the question very silly and brushed Jenson's hands away before walking off. Jenson stood there, looking at the direction Germaine and Helen had left. His mind was in a mess.
Germaine was such an arrogant woman, and she usually disregarded her business partners. Yet today, she actually took the initiative to invite Helen out?
Jenson and the several young men were good-looking and in their prime, but Germaine never took them seriously. She also never responded to the men who had expressed interest in her.
Most importantly, Germaine didn't have the slightest reaction on the day Jenson was completely undressed.
Could it be that she swung the other way? If that were the case, wouldn't Helen be in danger?
Jenson grew more frightened at the thought of it. He turned to stop Chandler, but Chandler had already started the car engine and left, completely ignoring him.
Enraged, Jenson thought for a moment and quickly took out his phone. "Taylor, can you help me track down a car?"
Chandler might not care, but he couldn't just stand by. He wouldn't let Germaine steal his nice sister-in-law away.
…
At the private restaurant, Germaine poured a glass of wine for Helen. "Ms. Spencer, you have quite a deep understanding of oil paintings; I wonder who was your mentor?"
Jenson was completely stunned. To make a different choice? To try something new? It was bad; he was really going to lose his sister-in-law now.
Thinking of this, he quickly set down the things in his hands and ran out.
Germaine and Helen saw it and exchanged knowing smiles, clinking their glasses together.
"Cheers to a pleasant collaboration."
"Cheers to a pleasant collaboration."
Jenson held his phone and paced back and forth anxiously at the door, unable to stand still.
When Chandler finally answered his call, he instantly shouted, "I've sent you the address on WhatsApp. Hurry over, it's urgent! If you come late, you might lose your wife."
Germaine was so terribly outstanding—she might really make Helen fall for her.
"Are you bored or something?" Chandler didn't take it seriously at all.
"I'm not joking with you, Chandler. Your wife said she wants to try something new, yet you're still focusing on your business? This is driving me crazy!"
Half an hour later, Helen and Germaine walked out of the restaurant side by side.
Just as they reached the entrance, Jenson suddenly emerged from the side and grabbed Germaine's hand, forcefully pulling her away.
Before Helen could react, Chandler grabbed her and pressed her against the wall. "Mrs. Newton, I heard that you want to try something new. Tell me, what kind of a new thing do you want to try?"
